I bought a V_Heliar 480 f4.5 in old style but with no a lens hood.
If somebody has the same lens, I would glad to get detail sizes of the hood for making this one.

Do view camera lenses have lens hoods ?
All my barrel lenses have... if I'm correct in terminology.
Some is deep, some not.
I prefer a compendium shade (maybe "shade" more right name?) too but for modern lenses.
A compendium is even better for the old ones, a round shaped is always a strong compromise, because it would cropping the corners if they would be as long as the compendium!
Just my tow cts. Armin
Totally agree with Ritchie!
Just I want to restore the original (or close to original) condition of the lens.
Some Heliars have removable shades, others are integral to the front mount. If it's damaged, you can bet it's built-in.
I wish I had a 480 to measure for you.....my 11.75" and 14" have hoods, my 42cm and 60cm do not...and no 480.
Can we see a small picture of this lens. Most of the early 48cm Heliars (I've had 2) had the lens shade built into and integral with the front glass group. It didn't come off seperately. They are fragile and one trip to the floor will break them. Then it's common to simply trim what's left off and you end up with something like this.
