Thanks guys! I wish I was back at the canyon too.
The sun rose a bit after 5am and after about 6:30 or 7 the light was flat and pretty lifeless. I had the whole area to myself for that amazing hour or so except for a very distressed man and his two sons. He was nonplussed when he arrived and I had taken probably the best vantage point of a scraggly tree with the sun rising behind. I can't wait to get to that roll of Velvia...

Submitted respectfully, albeit with technical and creative shortcomings, because the bigleaf hydrangea (hydrangea macrophylla) is my favorite flower.
There were so many hydrangeas here a few weeks ago. Nice composition.
Here's a composite image of 4th of July fireworks I watched at the lower summit of Piestewa Peak, to the east of Phoenix AZ.
Pentax 67ii, 55mm f/4, Provia 100F. Foreground lit with my headlamp and an R25 filter. The background smoke is from another show that had just finished.
such a wild land - have such a flat horizon and then all those textures, hillsides, and cliffs, twisting below you.
lovely light! I might actually prefer the 1:2 image cropped more to exclude the sky. it is such a blank and jarringly different element of the photograph.
Thanks, yeah I have been experimenting with crops to see what I like best. I still have some Velvia I shot in my Pentax of the same scene to develop from that morning that I might like better.
Bryan, wowzie! This one is just soooo nice.. Please keep them coming as I am sure none of us will ever get bored of these.
