Well, that is a start.

Perhaps informal critique is a way forward.

We need to define a purpose for meeting. Most photographers seem to be independent operators compared to my movie making friends.

Are we meeting for,

Fellowship?
Critique?
Business advice?
Hobbyist purposes?
Gear swap?
Location sharing?
Technical advice?
Darkroom visits?
Studio visits?
I dunno, but why?

I am a retired mechanic turned photo hobbyist, that chose LF 3 years ago as something to keep me sane. I know most of my images are not great, but I strive for improvement. However, deadly critique could kill my hobby. I have a MFA from SAIC, so I do know critique and how they can go bad...or good. I consider LF process a Performance Art.

We will be common to each other only by our choice to live in Chicago and shoot LF.

I am not trying to put a damper on things, but I do realize how independent we all may be.

I often quote Groucho Marx, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member."
