I like Xtol with FP4+ but the 5 liter page is a bit much.
Is it possible to mix each package with distilled water then combine the two as needed?
Would is increase the stoclk solution shelf life?
Thanks for your response.

When I mix it up, I put it in multiple 1L containers. The solution lasts for at least a year.

Me too. I use smaller glass bottles and the keeping quality is excellent.
I put it in wine bottles - about 750ml each - and then use those wine vacuum pumps to take out the last of the air. Keeps a good long time, probably six months to a year. I tend to use it up within two months. I have put big warning labels on the bottles!
When I used Xtol I stored it in a wine bladder for over a year with no problem. I would recommend using distilled water. I also found the 5L size inconvenient.

I bought a box of amber 4 Oz. bottles that hold a little over 4 Oz each that I mix with water as 1 + 1 which will do up to 6 4x5 negs in the basic Jobo. The 24 bottles do not hold the 5 liters but a 2 liter accordion bottle holds the rest. I draw from the 2 liter bottle first. This system holds stock longer than I can use the developer.
I use a 5 liter box of wine. I throw away the wine and use the box and collapsible bag inside. It has a spout for easy measurement and pouring. My first wine box of Xtol lasted over a year and the last drop was as good as the first.
Xtol is the fine wine of developers!
