    Gossen Luna Pro...Thoughts?

I have a Gossen Luna Pro that I have had for probably 40 years.
Fortunately I stored it without the batteries in it.
I know that at the time I bought it was a considered great meter.
I understand that PX-13 batteries are going to be a problem to find.
Other than the battery issue what are the thoughts on these old meters?
Anyone know a source for these batteries?
From what I understand they are still made in Russia.
    Thanks

The mercury batteries are gone for a very good reason. Importing them is also illegal. The meter is still considered to be one of the best. It is worth it to send it to a place like Quality Light Metric in Los Angeles to have it recalibrated for modern silver oxide batteries.

I still keep an old Spectra meter around (I have three from when I first began shooting cinema). They work fine and match up with the modern meters. Some of my cameras are almost twice as old as my meters. If it works, why mess with it. ;-)

    Thanks for info!
Any Idea how to reach them & what they charge?
I googled Quality Light Metric & can’t find a website for them.
    Thanks

Not too many years ago I picked up an old Luna-Pro and sent it to whomever the current Gossen/Manfrotto factory supported service center was to have the battery receptacle and calibration set for the silver oxide batteries and a CLA. It still works like a charm. Currently the service station is here:

    Manfrotto Service @ C.R.I.S.
    250 North 54th St
    Chandler, AZ 85226

    P: 480-940-1103
    E: manfrottoservice@criscam.com

I have also used Quality Light Metric for other meters. I'm sure either would do a fine job taking care of the old Gossen. I think it's pretty cool that old instruments like these and my old Westons can be repaired and brought back to spec.

    Thanks for the info .
I agree about the old instruments being brought to spec & made useful again!

Check out the Gossen Luna Pro battery adapter at B&H Photo - costs $60 but avoids recalibration.
