A great read is the book "Endurance" about Shackleton's expedition to the Antartic!
Just last week there was a documentary about four climbers repeating just the traverse of South Georgia Island, which Shackleton did after their Antarctic and
sea crossing ordeal in a small boat... and then, when they finally reached the whaling port, they still were personally involved in multiple attempted rescues by ship
of their original crew, and only on the fourth did they succeed! But I too have a copy of Endurance. The pictures themselves are not shabby at all, especially for
someone forced to eat penguin blubber.
