    Hi Austin,
    Are the woods from the eruption all those years ago? Great pics.

    Yes, believe it or not, those trees have been floating there since 1980. It's hard to really get the scale here, but there is an enormous mat of them that slowly drifts around the lake. What happened to Spirit lake from the eruption is really astounding, and sobering too, for it is also a graveyard.
    Thanks for the kind words on the picture.

    Your use of a shallow DOF to help isolate your primary subject from the background is terrific Tim. A very interesting image well seen sir.

    Jeff, how are you getting along with your Hasselblad? I hoped you would be posting shots from it by now.

    Hey Gary:

    I'd hoped to be farther along with my film work by now also. I hit a snag early on with a mechanical problem on the Hasselblad - the syncing between film back and camera was off giving me overlapping negatives. Once I got that fixed and working properly, my local lab went belly-up. I took that as a message for the analog god's that I should be developing my own negatives. Accordingly, I've been rehabilitating some vintage equipment from my father's old darkroom (cleaning those old Nikor SS tanks has been a pain) and hope to start creating some unique smells in my kitchen soon. The upside is I found and saved a nice little cache of Hewes 120/220 reels that Dad was going to toss in the trash. Keep an eye out for me to post some work in the not too distant future.

    Regards;

    Jeff

    Jeff, I'm glad you are getting things lined out. I am a fan of your work on MATA, especially your black and white conversions. For me, film has that something extra that digital misses. I will keep an eye out for your posts when you are ready.
