I still have mine but haven't used it in years - Mine very easily covers 5X7 and seems to almost cover 8X10 - just barely vignettes the corners. Would cover 4X10. It is a sharp lens.
What a wonderful idea. I bet this will be a treasured portrait for ever.

Doremus, I had never heard this before - I do pre-soak, adding one sheet at a time, but never waiting longer than just making sure the previous sheet was completely submerged before adding the next...
Decided to try to figure out this whole focus stacking thingy - tried it more than 10 years ago and did it manually in PS - took way to long. Used my Fuji X100v, had the camera shoot the exposures...
I made some myself many years ago - just cut some PVC tubing, curled the film and slid it in then set all the tubes in a tray of developer and rolled them until time was up. I think I tried it once...
I have always done 4X5 and 5X7 in 8X10 trays. I have done 8X10 in 11X14 trays.
In Alan Greene's book Primitive Photography he gives instructions on using skim milk to make a focusing screen. I haven't tried it yet. I may give it a try just for fun.
I did grind one when I...
My lady and I explored one of the local walking trails yesterday. Along the way we discovered that the stories kids tell at night by flashlight during sleep-overs are actually true.

I am not positive that I understand your quandary - but if you are just in need of wide angle lens hoods, some years back I purchased a couple very nice aluminum lens hoods thru B&H (I believe)...
Oh my, this is wonderful.

I really like this one - just kind of gave me a "feeling".
I don't know...just playing around in the back yard...been so long since I exposed any film :(

But I don't go to the races, so I don't care :)
But both sides have been lying to the voters for generations. People vote for one side or the other seemingly regardless of what the truth is.

Wonderful! Since I have that camera as well, are you intimating that I should be able to capture such inspiring images? I sure hope that's what you are intimating :)
Thanks guys - glad you like.
Every week for the past few years I drive past this several times a day, finally stopped and shot a few before someone burns it down. Fujifilm X100v.

I had an OM-1 back in around '79-'80. Very nice camera. I have had a few Mamiya TLR's as well, as seen in the background of your image. Have a C220 now.
Freestyle has 5X7 and 8X10 - they are out of 4X5.

That looks good Dugan. What would the 4/4 mean?
Just seeing if anyone can offer some ideas on translating this:
I collect cased images (daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes). I removed my latest acquisition - a daguerreotype - from it's case...
I once shot with empty film holders - talk about under exposed.

I am sure it could be something that I am doing. I will just have to experiment...I guess. Could be fixing to long - like 4 minutes...? Just a water stop-bath.
Got it from ZZ.

Well, I am getting the feeling that the quality control in manufacturing of Fuji Xray film is lacking. Over the past 4-5 years I have purchased five 100 sheet boxes. All have been 8X10 but my most...
Thanks Dugan - shot a few years back for WWPD - ashamed to say I haven't shot many since.
Built a nice cigar box camera a year ago and have yet to shoot any 4X5 with it.
Halide - the influencing factors for a pinhole that come to mind are:
1 - hole roundness
2 - hole size
3 - material thickness
If the aluminum for your laser-drilled pinhole is considerably...
For longer than I care to admit, and for reasons unbeknownst to me, I was drawn to large, extremely sharp (top to bottom), images with loads of contrast. I don't know exactly what / when my...
Trust me, this is in no way a criticism, I love this portrait, but are the out-of-focus shoes intentional?
I have a very nice Wollensak Series II Velostigmat in 7.5" FL (190mm). I believe these are Tessars. Mine is in an Alphax shutter but no PC socket. I suspect they can be had in other shutters. I...
Chuck, this is my cart. It's basically a two-wheeled wheelbarrow kit that I got at Lowes.
Instead of the tub I mounted some plywood between the handles and use a few nylon straps to cinch...
The main advantage of LF photography is film size, not camera movements. (apologies Mr. Scudder)
no, No, NO!

You only need one lens!

Paul, inspiring as usual - but I am curious - and this question may reveal my ignorance of the wet plate process, but if the emulsion is very time sensitive requiring the exposure to be made while it...
