I've taken the liberty of CC your jpg in LR - color correction took 10 seconds - no masks needed - your scan is not very good, you can easily do much better if you are willing to learn LR...
It seems to me you have everything needed for DSLR scanning with the exception of the NLP plug in for LR as Sergey recommended - this is the way to go, with the advantage of a fully RAW workflow....
I think you need to rethink your approach to scanning color negative film. What kind of scanner are you using? ( I assume it a desktop scanner of some sort - Epson/Nikon/Microtek ) There is easy to...
It's precisely because Karsh and Newman were contemporaries of each other and shared many common subjects over their 60+ year career that their different approaches to portraiture fascinates me -
...
I've always thought that Karsh's work was a mixed bag, there's no doubt that there are some spectacular timeless portraits - but much of his work is just so stiff and uncomfortable looking -...
Thanks Pieter, I really appreciate it - especially coming from one of the few voices of reason and knowledge here ;-)
I'll offer up a little advice - from someone who has lived here (manhattan) for almost 30 years- and I make my living photographing the city. Just finished this book...
New York is perfectly safe - setting up a tripod shouldn't be a problem unless you are getting in peoples way - You probably won't be able to set up in Times Square or Bryant Park, most everywhere...
Nicely done! -
I spent a lot of time just a few yards to your left shooting for my project Past / Present (up at Morris-Jumel Mansion museum through May 5th...) 246320

Printer Profile > Paper profile (specific paper profile)
If you are looking to use the monitor for photography/printing workflow then I would skip the apple studio displays - NEC/spectraview, Eizo, and Ben Q all have the ability to do hardware/sorfware...
This is not correct - A full size tiff file from my camera (using Lightroom) yeilds a file size of 256MB, saved as a full size jpg in LR at 100 yields a file of 19MB. Significantly smaller.

You have recourse by filing an infringement suit, or using the Copyright Claims board ( arbitration ) to make your claim. Have you registered your work with the LOC? Along with that you should join a...
It all depends on exactly how it was created - was it just text based prompts, or is it a combination of an actual photograph and text based prompts.
Purely generated AI images cannot be copyrighted, however if there's a combination of AI along with human created imagery ie - a portrait of someone with an AI generated background then a copyright...
Getty not Magnum, and there are still active lawsuits against those AI companies that used the Getty collection imagery without a license agreement. Adobe asks its users if they would like to opt in...
There's some great printer maintenance info over at Inkjetmall.com - the have cleaning fluid etc, it worked really well after my printer had been sitting for several months.
None of this rings true - architectural photography was always a collaboration between the architect and the photographer. The project was always estimated beforehand and shot lists, preproduction...
Getting back to the sprawling discussion (that has been largely beaten to death) I'll offer a few thoughts on the trade associations and AI as it related to the professional world. Our (hopefully...
It's been a while since I did much scanning but I always scanned to a lower contrast than the final image, making sure there was detail in the highlights, and the shadows had detail as well. I used...
I've been using the epson 3880 for color with the cone color inks in refillable cartridges -
I've had my 3880 working for years, no real issues at all. I've converted to the refillable cartridges from inkjet mall, once I went through the process a few times it became easy - the inks use the...

The lab was in the Commerce building in DC -for the large prints, the enlargers ( I have no memory of who made the enlargers) must have been specifically designed for the aerial film, which was on...
I started my career as an aerial photographer for NOAA / National Ocean Survey. Our missions were for coastal mapping / nautical charts and we did airport surveys for the FAA (making the approach...
Annie Leibovitz -
Vaughan is correct.
For portraiture the majority of the commercia/ editorial work was shot in 2 1/4, I would look up Annie, Albert Watson, Greg Heisler, Avedon, Bruce Weber, Mark Seliger, Marin...
Center for Photography in Woodstock- a good resource if nothing else - you might also ask at the Westchester Photographic Society.
Mid to late '80s, maybe a little earlier? - I used all the readyload films on assignment when they were first introduced - the 2 sheet readyloads were the 1st generation. I much preferred the single...

I think you will find a tremendous difference from the the Mac Pro in every way. The current versions of PS and LR are light years ahead CS4, and you may find that you will be able to run your...
I'm not put on the spot at all - let me try to clarify what I see as the biggest misconception about registration - most people here believe that registration is proof of ownership - it is not. You...
That's the CCB I referred to in post #25 - It exists because of the hard work of ASMP, PPA NPPA and many other associations that worked to get the CASE act passed and implemented - I served on the...
You cannot litigate copyright claims in small claims court. See post #25. s The CCB has its own requirements for filing. Registering your work with the LOC stacks the legal deck in your favor, and...
You are correct that many infringement disputes are actually poor/nonexistant contracts - even for professionals, however the rest of your advice is off the mark. Advertising campaigns have moved...
Copyright / infringement claims in the US are handled by the Federal courts. Registration of copyright with the LOC copyright office is requirement to pursue litigation in Federal court. The filing...
I've outlined my thoughts above - these principals are the same regardless of status - they apply to amateurs as well as professionals. If you are unwilling to go beyond the boundaries of this forum,...
The best way to get something out of a critique is to be clear about your goals and ask those specific questions of the reviewer. I taught for many years at ICP in NYC, and have been a working...
The "Hard to tell" comment is the correct answer, or more aptly, it doesn't really matter. Choose tools you like, or need to use - if you can't do an analog darkroom do digital. The there is no...
