Hey Drew, good luck with your lens. Keep us posted.

Welcome. I travel to NM every once in a while and love the state. It's a great place for LF photography.

I have an 8x10 Conley that I'm fond of because it's simple and relatively light to carry. Good luck with your 5x7.
I know that reciprocity failure occurs with extremely short exposure times, electronic flash being the most common source. With paper designed for seconds and minutes exposure timnes, that may be the...
And you're still wondering if it's wise to mount it on a shutter? Look at the T Series Nikkors, there is a 500mm and an 800mm that I know of.
Thanks guys for the comments. A crop to vertical has a lot of merit, it makes the background trees have prominence in the image. I just made prints of the uncropped photo.

As already said, tilt was not needed. For a vertical surface like the front facade and square (parallel) to the camera, the camera front standard and camera back need to be parallel to it. Thus both...
Yuriy, your three photos are excellent.
I'm in Baltimore and would be interedted in Southern Maryland and northern Virginia locations.
In my old job I did a bit of analytical work on humidity and condensation with respect to the dewpoint. If your film and film holders are a few degrees warmer than the outside air, condensation...
No fun having one of those days. Grrr, have done that myself. Better luck next time, hopefully soon. And post some aspen pics.
You nailed it.

At infinity focus it's 150mm. for closer focus it will be more than 150mm. I'm not familiar with Chamonix cameras, but select the mount hole which will allow at least 150mm and to adjust for longer...
I ordered one and Merg sent me a nice email saying it's on its way.
Seriously consider a generous friend to carry part of your load of non-photo gear. I had the good fortune to have a friend carry some of my gear on a trip into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in...
A long (14 inch) handle attached to the pivot would help with say a 30 degree angle (up or down) with a 40 pound camera sitting on top. The stresses on the base would be significant with this...
