Please, Please, no more digitial vs. Silver posts!!!!!!!
Jorge;
These guys seem to have it in for you. I worked for 30 years with the USEPA and developed regulations under the following ACTS
1. Hazardous waste disposal under RCRA. I conducted...
Jorge is correct. By the time your quart of developer gets to the WWTreatment plant, it will be diluted by anywhere from 200,000 to 100,000,000 gallons of waste water. Heavy metals are the real...
Robert;
The two thick condensers are for 6x7. the thin condenser goes covex side up for 35mm.
I've been cleaning out my attic for a move and I am finding hundreds of silver prints that are about 100+ years old that look like new. These were commerically processed for the most part. These have...
I forgot to mention that each print receives this without the presence of another print any where in the processing. Slow but pretty sure. My degree in ChE is from Va Tech where at the time the Tech...
I read an article from the photochemistry offical journal the the accepted industrial standard is 0.02 mg of silver halide per square cm. I researched this subject quite a bit before adopting the...
I've also had good luck selling on photo.net a number of times.
My brief work with 4x5, I don't use a glass carrier with my Omega D2.
I have an intense light source, 250w with condensers, so I can stop down to f22 and still get 30 second exposures when...
Welcome to NC. I'm in the process of moving from Durham, NC to Raleigh NC. The above places have great reputations. I've not personally used then, as I do my own B &W and never got into color very...
Here is the easy answer. After you air dry your prints, take damp, not a wet cloth/sponge, and dampen the back of the print just until it starts to be a bit limp. Place between clean mat boards and...
I've tried split filtering (0 and 5) and can see no difference. Burning with different filters is a very useful technique.
I had some bad experience with Ilford MG RC paper and have only use FB...
Brian. Welcome to the compulsive grain club. We meet 3 times a day at the nearest 20x24 print washer. Bring your 25X loupe. Nikon/Zeiss microscopes are always welcome.
I'll try and run down...
Another experiment I'm going to do soon is determine the resolving power of a couple of FB papers. Ilford FB4 and Kodak Fine art VC.
BTW-I got 156 lp/mm with a pentax 55mm f4, newest version. ...
Also, I believe the question was what can replace Tech Pan. Gigabitfilm is one!
One more thing. Ludwig in Germany needs an investor(s) to come up with $120,000 to make a batch of 120 gigabitfilm. I'm not impressed enough to spend that kind of money.
BTW, I still have a few...
Sorry I didn't respond to an earlier question.
I must admit that gigabitfilm is "over kill" for 4x5. I've been studying diffraction limits since I got a 4x5 camera in Feburary 2005.
I was...
Scott;
I sent you three e-mails with information and a couple of images.

Jim;
For a few of us cheap is not important.
Gigabitfilm is not Copex. but a monodispersive emulsion that will not give a Dmax any higher than 2.2. All copy films will have a dmax of 4 or better.
Once again gigabitfil is not copy film. I...
Check out gigabitfilm. EI of 25 and much finer grain. Availble for 35mm and 4x5. The bad part is there will unlikely be any 120 size. The inventor can not get an investor to produce 120.
Order...
$350 seems a lot to pay to make 35mm prints. A used 50mm f2.8 nikkor is good enough. If you are interested in large prints, you need a bigger negative.
I abandoned 35mm film about five years ago....
A 72 is what works for me with MACO. EI of 6 and some bracketing.

I'm the guy with the sunglasses.
I had a chance to visit Wild Cat Hill last fall with John Sexton Workshop. Kim(EW's grand son) and his wife now live there. We got a chance to see the old darkroom and Kim's newer Darkroom. We got to...
I recently got an Omega D with a nearly new 135 el-nikkor for $200. No shipping as I was able to get it locally. I know several people who are trying to sell 4x5 enlargers. Shipping is a lot. It...
Rich;
I've got you beat on old computers. I was doing full -scale chemical process optimization work at Allied Chemical with punch cards in the early 60"s! I remember when Fortran 4 was the...
If you want something that will last a 100 years and be worth twice what you paid for, get a nice rolex watch. I have a 30 year old gold "Date" Rolex watch that you can barely tell from the same...
Brian;
You are exactly where I am, just shooting for myself. Processing for c-41 is cheaper than E-6 as well as the film. I use C-41 and scan with an epson 3170 and print on a Canon S9000. ...
My 3047 plates have cork on the top. I've not had any problems once I get the plate tight enough! The leverage you get on a long monorail may be too much for the plate to hold securely.

Say hello to John S!
I did his advanced workshop last November.
Just as an experiment, I recently compared my spot meter with my recently aquired Kodak DS 6490. I zoomed to 10x and set the exposure metering area to spot. I compared readings with both and they are...
Dan;
I forgot to mention, put some weight on top of the mat boards. For 11x14 about a dozen National Geographic Mags should do the job.
Btw, I used 4x5 gigabitfilm and the tests on this site were done with Tmax 100. This may explain why mine were better. For those not familiar with gigabitfilm, the 4x5 version will resolve up to 900...
Emmanuel;
I did a lot of math during my 40 year career as an engineer. These days I like to keep it simple.
All of the tests I've done over the last 10-15 years were done measuring from the film...
Ann;
My wife would never go for any thing that looks less than perfect. She is the type women that thinks nothing of paying $100 for a gallon of paint! We looked into various hanging systems and...
Did you see my post about LF in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill?
