I have used the same lens with a Lee wide angle adaptor ring and a 2-slot filter holder for landscape stuff. It worked fine. No vignetting.
Good polarizers don't come cheap. I use a 105mm Heliopan...
Most of all, I didn't like the fiddly way it has to be set up and packed away. So I went back to a non-folding Ebony at the time.
I couldn't tell which lens was used for each picture, but I prefer the second one. Is it the Nikon?
Very beautiful images.
Please keep posting them.
Lets show those wide panoramics.
The first two images were taken in Belgium, one in the Hallerbos near Brussels, the other one is from the Hautes Fagnes. The third image was taken in Luxembourg.
Absolutely fabulous!
I have tried a Super Angulon 5.6/90mm, a Grandagon-N 6.8/90mm and a Grandagon-N 4.5/90mm (and had a SA 8/90mm on a 6x17 Gaoersi). All of them performed extraordinarily well in terms of image quality,...
Thank you very much for this interesting and very helpful review.
The bolt may not fail, but you could stumble and the camera/tripod combination might hit the ground. I only carry my camera mounted on the tripod in an upright position for a few meters.
With a...
Absolutely fabulous!

Sure, Ebonys are beautiful and capable cameras, but if your Toyo does everything you need, then why change? The Ebony won't make you a better photographer.
You may as well spend the extra money on...
Are you using a 1D series camera? Anything else in Canon's camera catalogue is not precise enough for such a lens.
Have you ever tried the 85/1.8? Lightweight and cheap, but top image quality.
If...
Another vote for the old Gitzo G1548 carbon fibre tripod. The current model version is called GT5541LS.
If you want to take landscape shots with everything in focus from foreground to background, you'll have to go for the LF camera with tilt movements. Even at f/32, a MF lens cannot do that.
Of...
Correct. Some of the chinese lens boards sold on eBay don't always fit the Chamonix. I have generic lens boards sold by Robert White in the UK and they are a bit thinner than those chinese boards, so...
Another option might be to use a scan service instead of trying to do it yourself. Although I have an Epson V700, I find that I am not skilled (or patient) enough to get the best out of it. I have my...

Why don't you just return it if you are not totally happy? I would if I were you. You'll soon find another lens that suits your needs better.
Congratulations for that wonderful camera! Must be fun using it.

Quickloads are the ideal solution for outdoor work if you don't take too many pictures (as they are about twice the price of normal sheet film) or if you are rich. :)
I just don't want to load...

The Apo-Grandagon-N 55mm has an image circle of 163mm at f/11 (so, at f/22, its IC will be larger), while the Super Angulon (not Symmar) 58XL has an IC of 166mm at f/22.
Both lenses have a similar...
You have to load the paper end (beginning ☺) of the roll film into the spool, advance with the lever until the black arrow shows up in the circular hole in the pressure plate, then close the door and...
Hi Andre,
the DAYI 6x17 panorama back comes with its own ground glass unit that allows you to view the entire image. It sits further back than the 4x5 ground glass (which has to be taken off...
Although HiTech filters have a good reputation, I strongly recommend not to start with anything less than Lee, since you will probably end up buying Lee filters at some point in time anyway. Lee...
Hi Andrea,
welcome to the forum.
Here is a comparison chart for focal lengths:

So, compared to 35mm film, your 3 lenses would equal 14mm -...
My relatively small Ebony dark cloth is attached by a velcro strip to the top of the rear standard and then draped over the bottom part of the camera and fixed by another velcro.
I always remove it...
Yes, that is exactly how I understand it and that is why I agree with you first post:
Of course, the final image will not be the same (might be heavily cropped), but that was not your question...
Nikkor SW lenses are as excellent as any other modern (= approx.from the last 25 years) lens made by one of the 4 big manufacturers.
The 90mm f/4.5 lenses (Nikkor SW or Rodenstock Grandagon-N)...
You can't go wrong with that 135mm Apo-Sironar-N lens. It'll be as sharp as you could wish for. There is no real need to pay almost double the price for the S-version, which has a slightly larger...
I prefer the Rodenstock 4x and use it most of the time, but sometimes I also use a 7x Peak loupe.
Some time ago, I used to have a tiny Schneider 6x which was really nice because it was so small.
Don't worry, Arthur. Your shutter is fine. None of the Copal shutters have aperture clicks. The aperture lever (or wheel) always moves freely. Only the shutter speeds have clicks.
On Compur and...
Blowing off the dust particles first is a very good idea. After that, I use a soft Lee Filters cleaning cloth for the glass.
A few dust specks inside are a very common thing with lenses. I have...
I've been using the Hama Professional model. It is +/- identical to the excellent Horseman model (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/91739-REG/Horseman_29542_Cable_Release_Large.html) and similar...
Welcome to the forum, Patrick.
You are going to have a lot of fun, maybe some frustration and loads of satisfaction with your new LF challenge.
I keep my Velvias (sealed) in the freezer at -18 C since purchase and would not care at all if they were expired by 3 or 4 years. I have never had any issue with this method. As Eric said, you just...
Did you consider buying a used 4990? It is not much worse than a V700, scans 4x5 and should not be more expensive than a V500.
