Thanks Steven, no initials that I can find, and I don't have the brass lens cap so no chance there, nor the waterhouse stops unfortunately. I did find after cleaning and a closer look there are some...

Hi Jon, & Steven. I just stumbled upon this old thread while trying to research the same lens (or similar anyway) that came with a tailboard camera I purchased recently,...
You (and the article) gave me a good idea... I have an old Leica projector lens that's been sitting in a box for a long time, and I think it can be made into a loupe (or 2) quite easily also, and I...
Yes, still a lot to learn, thanks again Ian.
Thanks Ian, gives me more to think about... I also have a Technika 70 that I just purchased that has a 100mm Planar with it so may try to see if it may be usable o the Gandolfi, but guess I would...
Hi Luis, and thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Have been reading about lens recommendations around the site also and had seen that a 90mm would be the sensible lens to have (between 65-135) so...
Gordon, I had a feeling that there would be some trouble with the screws... had been thinking of trying some dis-assembly on mine but was hesitant, and will now hold off, indefinitely :-) Mines not...
Looking great Gordon, beautiful job! Was wondering if you have had any difficulty with the old brass screws getting stripped out while taking it apart or putting it back together?
And if you are...

Thought I'd show a 'before and after' using the BMR conditioner.
Agree Steve, especially about neck straps and such, should never trust old ones even if they 'look' nice, and especially if they have never been 'cared for' (conditioned). But I do think though that...
I think all old leather needs some TLC every year or 3, and there are lots of products that would be better than nothing. The BMR type I mentioned will help for many years, that's why museums use it....
There are 2 products (for leather) that I have had very good luck with. "Leather Rejuvenator" made by 'Preservation Solutions' and is available on Amazon, among others, and my favorite, "British...
Hi, was just wondering how you are doing with the restoration work? I have a few of these old beauties that I will be working on as well.
That is interesting, I would have thought that valuations based on open auctions was a pretty decent way judging value, and I think they use eBay as well. Anybody else have opinions on it?
Hi, was curious as to why CollectiBlend is not mentioned as a source of finding estimated valuations? Are theirs way off or do you guys have any opinions about that site??
Since the edit button option is not available, just thought I'd add that it is a 4x5 and also that after reading through the lens recommendations, it seems as though I should start with the 135mm...
Thanks Oren, got it :) Maybe would be nice if the editing option stayed available until at least there are later posts, but that's probably difficult technically.
Had just wanted to clarify...
Hi, tried searching around the site but couldn't find an answer... On a post of mine at the bottom of the page it says "You May Edit your Posts" but I cannot see anyway to actually do it... Seems...

Gandolfi "Traditional" aka "Precision" Camera
Thanks to Emil I now know at least the correct name of this nice old camera. I just purchased it from an auction in the UK...
Thanks again Emil, they did use a lot of different ones! I'll let you know when it arrives, about bed time here in this part of the world :-)
Thanks Emil, much appreciated!!! It didn't come with any holders so it may be nice if it will take a more modern type that may be easier to find. Hopefully I will have it in a week or so and I'll get...
I think this is the Gandolfi 4x5 Field Camera, manufactured from the 1890's into the 20th century... if anybody can verify that, or correct me, it would be very helpful. Hopefully when I receive it...
It is a common problem with the name, gets abused regularly :-)
Thank you very much for your quick response, much appreciated!

Looks like this thread has been pretty quiet... I just purchased this beauty from an auction tonight, now I just need to learn about it... model... what I will need to make photos...
Hi Bob, I'm new here and just bought a Technika 70, serial number is 1711467... from comparing it to others it seems it may be from 1963, is that correct? Thanks in advance for your kind help.
Bob...
I'm new here also.. but welcome anyway
Thanks guys for the warm welcome!
Yes Garrett, it was great in Phuket back then, the 'early' days... getting a bit crowded these days but still OK, for now.
Thanks Tim, Pro Color Lab and IQ...
Hi,
Have been collecting cameras as a retirement hobby now that I have the time to enjoy them, and until recently it was primarily with medium format, Rolleiflex & Hasselblad mostly, with some...
