Greetings and welcome from Bergen County, although I work just a few minutes from Peter. Local shops? Are there any left around Princeton? The only one in my area seems to be Unique in Fairfield,...
Does anyone have a recommendation for hire to soften stiff bellows? In this car they are on a Gundlach.
Thanks
Dan
inches instead of millimeters? On the older ones, if it says serie III nstead of Series III, its european.
I use a Toyo to Graflex adapter so I can keep all my lenses on Pacemaker boards.
Ive decided Id like to get my Press Graflex up and running (its just sluggish) but I don't really feel like messing with it myself. Who is still active in the world of Graflex shutter overhaul? ...
Thats my 1995 Litespeed, bought new that year. My days of racing are long gone too. Speed is way down, so too max heart rate. It takes longer to warm up, much longer to recover. But, getting out...

If it doesnt fit in this saddle bag, it doesnt belong on a bike ;)
Written as I take my well deserved pizza break.

Hope this is of use to someone.

To get at the little arm, I needed to take off the gold ring seen above. To that, there are 5 more screws to come out. One of mine was so badly damaged, I had to drill it out. I didn't want to...
Note how the blades should look:

Remove the five screws in the photo above holding the plate down. On this shutter, the problem is due to the arm at left in the photo below. There seems to be a little tab that's broken off so the...
In the above photo, note the location of the doubled up leaf. Interestingly, this one has two doubled leaves.
The black ring with the marking just pries off. This one was difficult to get over...
The studio shutter on my 14" Verito opened and closed well but only halfway so I opened it up to figure out what was going on. Because I couldnt find a good illustrated discussion of how to do this,...
what sort of lens is it. You might be able to get away with a Press copal shutter. They can be had much cheaper.
Dan
You must have been stuck in traffic on the aptly named Parkway.
Welcome from North Jersey
Dan
I've bought Domke and Tenba ones on Amazon. They're okay but I still prefer the calumet ones. They show up on eBay from time to time.
Another TU for them from me
Similar to the Ektar is the 203mm f7.7 Kodak Anastigmat. its an uncoated dialyte type. Mine came in a compur shutter. You could also look for a nice Cooke type triplet - I have one in the 170mm...
Steven,
Sorry for the lack of clarity on the original post. It's a garden variety (albeit very long) projection petzval. The larger rear glass has the same marking as the front. Any marking...
Steve,
Thanks. A quick perusal of the VM didn't turn up any likely candidates. Just one of the many lens makers around turn of the century I suppose.
Dan
It is indeed a 20" FL - I had already confirmed that (once I overcame my surprise at finding it wasnt 10" f4-ish). At infinity on an 8x10 2-D:

Anyone familiar with this marking? Did Gasc and Gilmer get together and make a lens?
Thanks,
Dan

I had the same issue with 210s (there's something about that focal length). I kept the 210 Nikkor (I standardized on that brand - not much difference among the big 4), g-claron , ilex acutar and...
Good luck to all in New England. I'm 10 miles outside NYC and it was a whole lot of nothing here. I shoveled the 4" of snow when I got home from work yesterday afternoon. There's all of an inch...
So what did you tell him a 3A is worth?
Methinks thou doth protest too much.
Those are some pretty valuable lenses. Research carefully and thoroughly.
I think the 135/235 is in a 1 not a 0. I accumulated a collection of the convertible symmars to make a travel casket set. Never got around to figuring out the FL combinations or trying it out.

I really doubt it's going to be balsam.

The OPs lens is marked 8x10 and f7. It's a 12-19-25. The 12-21-28 is f6.8. Both of those combinations (and all permutations of the 4 cells) will cover 8x10. Any TR triple with cells shorter than...
You will see separation as brownish gunk within the glass, particularly the edges. Some of these have crackling internally throughout. I've heard it's usually in the rear balsam joint. Each of the...
an 8"-10" petzval will be bright, sharp enough but not too sharp, and shouldn't swirl much at all on 4x5. Barring that, I see my two favorites on the D, 8" Pentac and 8 3/4" Darlot have been...
I think the 100mm Dagor will just cover. There's also the 75mm rectagon.
As Steven mentioned, pencil is even resistant to acetone.
Water is fine. Windex in moderation, just try to keep it off the balsam. Don't drop the glass into your sink (don't ask).
Dan
Thanks to all for the comments. It took a while-the beauty ring finally turned tonight. The set screw came right out and both pieces of glass are now clean and the uncorked lens ready to shoot.

Seems steep to me.
