  1. Re: 8x10 shooters, can HP5 come close to Tri-X 320?

    Gorgeous images.
  2. Re: 8x10 shooters, can HP5 come close to Tri-X 320?

    Fomapan 200 is astounding.

Expose and develop according to the guidelines in the leaflets - they don't lie. In my workflow it's a 160EI film in Adox XT-3 (Xtol) and gamma=.58 and it's much better...

    Very useful insight thanks Paul
  5. Re: Clearance Sale on 8x10 Foma Retropan 320 at Freestyle

It's an exciting film if you like pictorial results. There's nothing else quite like it on the market as far as I know. The spectral response for one, is unusual. Strongly red sensitive.

    If...

Adox CHS II vs Ilford FP4+?

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has personally compared the two. Any major differences in spectral response? How about characteristic curves? What does CHS II excel at?

    I heard...
  7. Re: Is Arista EDU Ultra 400 ISO 8x10 any good?

Foma 200 in 5x4 and above is absolutely gorgeous stuff. If they repackaged it in a yellow box with red accents under a K brand it would command 3x its current price.

Anyone in doubt check out the...
  8. Re: Effect of increasing sodium sulfite in D-23?

I use vanilla D23 regularly. It's currently my favourite developer, mostly in 35mm and 120. Used 1:1, I strongly disagree that it's in the camp of 'soft' developers. it's just as sharp as Adox D76....

    Re: Retropan 320 with Rodinal?

That was my understanding as well. Pity, it was a unique product. I will use up my left over stock.

    Re: Retropan 320 with Rodinal?

I have used a lot of Retropan 320, though exclusively in 120 format.

I have found I got the best results with its own dedicated developer Retropan, used stock. In my workflow nothing else could...

    Re: Obsidian Aqua

    I'm a simple man. I just use D23 1+1.
  12. Re: Are slower films more contrasty or less contrasty than faster ASA films ?

    Thank you both for clarifying.

I was particularly interested in the following

Michael - what do you mean by 'the maximum gradient depends on the emulsion'? Am I correct in saying you mean...
  13. Re: Are slower films more contrasty or less contrasty than faster ASA films ?

There are people out there (mostly wet printing practitioners) who hold the view that contrast 'is a function of development'.

The idea I think is that, given enough development, any two film...

    Here's a decent read

    Re: Foma 200?

Could people reporting issues describe batch number, expiration date, and process used, down to the details, please.

I have had nothing but fantastic results from Foma in medium format over the...
