  1. Re: New Book: Eleventyone Portraits 1841 to 1950

I received my copy of the book two days ago. It is a beautiful book with plenty labor of love. It reminds me of Ansel Adams book Examples.

Having read through three pictures so far and I have the...

Re: 4x5 lenses: telephoto and portraiture

Just a note: I set up my 45H1 camera a few minutes ago and put on a 300mm f/9 lens. I was able to focus at something about 5 feet away from the lens with the bellows fully extended. So that is how...

Re: 4x5 lenses: telephoto and portraiture

    Alan,

You have two wide angle lenses and one normal lens of 150mm. So your real question is how to choose a longer lens that is suitable for portraits. It does not have to be a telephoto design....

Re: New Ultra-Light Chamonix 810 Camera

Somebody asked me last week how rigid the front standard was and if it could handle heavy lenses with tilts. I put the 810 Alpinist horizontal on the tripod and put my heaviest lens on shutter on the...

Have you ever seen a 12" Pentac?

    Rayt,

Ebony is a wrong camera for heavy lenses. I have tried and it was designed that way. I use a lens support with Chamonix camera for my lenses up to 20 lbs. Have to use a second tripod if the...

    Re: Wide Angle RR

While they are not RR lenses, Dallmeyer and Meyer made some wide angle lenses in 1930s with F/6.3 viewing stop. 100-105% coverage. Very sharp. With patience, should find them under $200.

Superb lens for 4x5 head and shoulder shots if your 4x5 camera has a big and sturdy front standard. Covers 8x10 with no movement.

There are flights, but slower than usual. No EMS, FedEx takes about two weeks to reach your door. We ship 1-3 times a week now due to reduced flights. Used to be everyday.

    Thanks.
  33. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

    Found this one:

But its online ordering is not working and don't know if it is still in business.
  34. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

    Laci,

My 810 contact printer are using 9x11 and 9 5/8 x 11 11/16 glasses and the betterscanning offers 8x10 glass.

Has anyone used contact printing Mylar sheets? How does that work?
  35. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

I have also noticed that 810 Tmax film gives the most Newton ring as its very shiny side is pressed against the glass.
  36. Re: Can it be a solution for avoiding newton rings

All my printings are contact printing and all my contact printing frames give me Newton rings. Should I replace them with Tru Vue Museum glass? They are made for picture frames, not contact printers....

A 16 inch Heliar is bit too heavy for the front standard of Kodak 2D. A 14 inch one with a Packard shutter will be nice.
