Thanks Jason. Will get that done tomorrow morning.
Are these the long Philips screws you are referring to to? Do I have to take out the 4 screws completely or just loosen them so that the head can slide out.

Several years ago, I was given a Durst 5x7 Laborator 138 and all the necessary accessories, for enlarging from 35mm to 5x7 and everything in between. When I picked it up, I took it apart into...
I was just wondering if anybody has tried using white shellac to to treat the wood. I`m planning a 2ft x 8ft plywood sink. I`ve used it to treat some balcony boards that where starting to rot and...
I'd like to use the enlarging attachment that I have with my Gossen LunaSix 3 ("Luna Pro" in the US). The manual gives this tidbit "... permits you to measure very small areas of the projected...
What would be the best test for a safelight filter?
My darkroom has the following safelight setup: three 5½ in. OC filters on the Kodak round safelights and a 10x12in OC on a rectangular safelight. I was recently given a 10x12 safelight with an OA...
I travelled to China twice last year, from Canada, via Los Angles, and each trip, with planes changes and all, I had to go through 7 scans on each trip. Contrary to Doremus's affirmation, "Don't...
I recently acquired a roll of Double-XX film in a roll measuring 9.5 inches x 250 feet. I want to use the film in 8x10 holders. What would be the best way to cut 8in of film from the 250 foot...
Hello,
I was given a box a 8x10 Kodalith Fine Art sheet film. There are no notches to indicate the side with the emulsion. How am I supposed to load the film in the film holders if I don't know...
That's what I did with my 138.... the turret cannot be removed on earlier models so I just mounted a Componon 240 and do the smaller formats up to 4x5 on my Omega D2v
hello,
It doesn't specify as to whether you should read off the ground glass, or remove the ground glass and, under a dark cloth, take a reading as the slit goes by.. I have 7 Speeds in various...
Not mentioned in the manual, but the "eye" of the tester should be held against the ground glass and the shutter is fired.
I finally had the Calumet shutter tester cleaned by a friend and it is working fine. To do a reset, you don't have to turn it off completely, just press the button enough to get a reset,so this way...
hello,
Would anybody have an idea as to how I should use the Calumet Shutter Speed tester with a Speed Graphic? How do I deal with the focal plane shutter to measure if the speeds on the focal...
A friend who is savvy in these kind of things is going to have a look at it, He thinks either a bad capacitor, or bad cold weld. I'll know in a few days and will report back.
Thanks all for your input, very helpful. I have a feeling that the problem is the innards 0f the tester, resistors. capacitators ,and what have you that has gone wonky.
I would get several on/off...
Sorry, What I meant by continuous, was that I could take one reading after another (continuous). And then after several reading, no more numbers.. I would turn it on and off. Nothing.
hello and thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I only get a reading someimes.... I turn it on and point it at a light, and I can't get a consecutive reading ... have to turn it on and off. I...
I have had the Calumet solid state shutter tester now for several years. Periodically, I take it out... put in a new battery and then try to understand the manual that comes with it. After about an...

hello.
Just want to Thank everybody who contributed but I think that I'll stick to what I have , a 5x7 Durst and make 8x10 contact prints.
I have an early Speed (takes the slotted film holders) and one that functions very well, speeds are on, everything is fine EXCEPT, the bellows lights up like a Christmas Tree, If I put a lit bulb...
Hello,
Since I acquired my DURST L138, 5x7, 2 years ago, I have read here and there on the internet, that the L138 can be converted to 8x10, by using a 12 in. Cold Light Head.
Is this...

Hello, If anyone is interested, this is an update on the developing of the Aero PluS-X. Yesterday, I shot a full 15 feet at 50asa, and decided to develop using HC 110 dil H (1:64) at 9:30min. I cut...

First off, the second attachement has two frames that I cut off a processed roll of 16 feet. The whole roll of film has that brownish tint. The first attachement...
Yes, I cut off a piece from the 15 feet that I developed. Immersion in fresh hypo did not change anything..... the brown tint stayed
First thing that crossed my mind. I mixed a fresh batch of Fixer from scratch and inserted two short strips into the Fixer for 10 minutes.
No Change.
I just finished developing some 70mm Aero Plus-X. The film is used for aerial mapping, hence it is very sharp. I used the following procedure:
Presoak: 5min Water
Developer: Stand...

I also bought an identical digital scale at a "head"shop. Triple beam scales are fine if you are measuring out larger quantities but when I have to measure 0.5gr of Potassium Bromide, I go with...
