I have been a member for over 30 days. Where is the classified section?
I bought a crown graphic to learn on but I'm just planning for the eventual urge to go larger and larger :)
Thanks for the info Dan, I'm thinking maybe 11x14 might be a good place to start for now. I suppose I can always go bigger later. So for 11x14 for shoulder and head portraits I should be looking at...
It's for wet plate, not sure if that matters. I've got about a grand for the lens set aside. Depending on the answers I receive here then 11x14 might also be considered lol.
Hi! Just wondering if there is someone on here who could help me choose a portrait lens that I can build my camera around, either 16x20 or 20x24, haven't decided yet and lens will determine. Just...
I bought a graphic film pack adaptor for my crown graphic and it came with a pack of ansco super pan press film in it with 3 tabs left. I thought this stuff was like peel apart instant film but I...
Hello all. I've been talking with a seller who says he has whole plate camera with bookform holders. I've seen what they are but I have no idea what the difference is between whole plate, half plate...
Still no luck.... (Sad face)
I was thinking of building my own but I figured the cost would come out about the same as buying an older beater camera. I'll have to research diy builds little more.
Do you know if the b&j 4x5 view camera has a rotating back?
The one I'm looking at states no rail mount. Is that something easily bought or am I gonna have hard time finding one?
I was replying to your post lol
Having the ability to change formats would be nice. Was thinking I could get separate 4x5 and 8x10 but to have all in one would be cool, like the 2d and I'm sure others.
Thanks for the info. So I can still use the crown since it doesn't have the shutter then I suppose. What are your thoughts on these 3:
1) burke and james view camera
2) linhof 45s kardan
3)...
Ah yeah I see that now. Didn't get any notification for that thread that anyone replied. So guess I'll rule that out then
With the focal plane shutter does that mean I can use electronic sync to flash to decrease exposure time for portraits in the field? Or constant studio lighting only?
So right now I've got 3 I'm watching as potential candidates. All clean but no lenses:
1) linhof 45s kardan
2) burke and james 4x5 view camera with extra rail and 3 lens boards and 2 film backs...
Yeah it was too nice to mess up I think haha. I don't mind paying that much but not an ideal candidate for my first camera.
Thanks! Yeah I checked out and am a member of apug but didn't find any. There was a nice tachi but slightly outside my price range.
Hi all! Just wanted to ask if a crown graphic would be an okay camera for a wet plate beginner? What are the advantages or disadvantages of having a focal plane shutter? Can you sync it with a flash...
Hi! So I'm jumping into large format and figured might as well go all out so I'm jumping straight into wet plate. But I'm looking for a good place other than auction site to find a trusty used 4x5 or...
