Well done, Danny.
Keep it up.

I've never heard the word "purity" in that context before.

Hi Ken,
The center one, with the thin white lines, works best for me.
Other folks may have different opinions. Thanks.
- Leigh
Hi Ken,
I normally really admire your work, but...
these panelized prsentations are an exception.
Perhaps if the border was narrower, and the secondary black & white borders eliminated... ...
Si wgere us that? Nice.

Very good, Ethan.
Keep up the good work. Let us know if we can help.

Hi Wolfy,
Very nice (I'm a machinist, so I appreciate things that are well-done).
I would add an anti-rotation screw on the bottom that could mate with any slot that might be on the tripod...
Read Post #3 above.

Very good, Kent.
Congratulations.

Nothing unusual about that. It's the water-soluble anti-halation dye from the back of the film.
If you use a pre-wash, the dye ends up in it.
If not, it ends up in the developer.

So have I, since a few years before forever.

The function of a grain focuser is to enable the user to focus the grain in the film emulsion on the paper.
If that's not what you're doing, why would you use it at all ? ? ?
- Leigh
Nobody has mentioned the fact that enlarger lamps produce NO UV in the first place.
So why would you need to attenuate it.
The blue filter is meant to attenuate RED light, which is a...
Hi Bob,
Does that work regardless of whether or not the key and fill overlap?
- Leigh
Hi Bob,
Could you please identify the various B+W grades available?
I normally use price as a guide if multiple models are available in the type and size I'm looking for.
Thanks.

That's how I did it when I had a Graflex camera (don't remember the model).

I have 22+ LF lenses in-shutter, most mounted on lensboards.
Every one has had a B+W UV filter mounted since the moment I got it.
They're cheap insurance, in the $50 to $100 range. Much...
Hi Steven,
Please realize that all areas of the negative develop at about the same rate.
What changes with exposure is how long it takes to reach the final density.
Shadows, being the...
great shot, Greg.

Hi Bernice,
APO enlarging lenses are VERY different from APO process lenses.
My comments applied to APO enlarging lenses.

I standardized on the Schneider APO-Componon-HM series some years ago after using other good lenses.
So I bought all available focal lengths from 45mm up.
With high-quality transparencies...
Hi Bernice,
We've been making precision components and assemblies for well over a century.
It's surprisingly easy, even using good manual (not computerized) equipment, depending mostly on...
The thickness of Copal shutters is as follows:
#0 - 20mm
#1 - 20mm
#3 - 28.6mm
The tolerance on all of those is ±0.025mm (0.001 inch), which is pretty tight.
This info from the...
All manufactured part dimensions have tolerances. That includes lens thickness and surface curvature, spacer lengths, etc.
Shims are used to optimize the spacing of the cells to compensate for...
The image circle of the 90 SWD is 236mm, while the diagonal of 5x7 is 218mm.
That would allow very small movements with the lens and no filters.

I believe "outhouse" was more common for such structures in the US.
I've only heard "outback" used to refer to central Australia.

Hi Steve, and Welcome Aboard.
Hope we can help.
Would love to see some of your work.
BTW... Don't wait until you have a shot you think is great before posting.
We all learn from...
Large format is unpopular with the modern generation because you must think about what you're doing and know what you're doing. It's not a one-second tap on a cell phone.

I started shooting LF 60 years ago (1960) for sports because that's what the newspaper wanted.
I've continued with it over the years because I like the extraordinary quality and exquisite detail....
I have a 4x5 Tachihara and an 8x10 Tachihara with 5x7 reducing back.
I think they're excellent cameras for general shooting (no macro work).
- Leigh
Very nice, Mohammad.
Great tone and grey scale.

Hi Laurent,
I shot tons of 4x5 Super-XX in the early 1960s (55+ years ago).
Developed in Acufine, I achieved an actual speed well over 1000 ASA (=ISO 1000).
I was shooting basketball games...
Sorry, Bernice, but that's not the Starrett precision level.
The precision level is a 199Z:
190251
It costs $1000.00

Hi Daniel,
I bought a spare for mine about 20 years ago.
Never have needed to change it. The original still works fine.
I don't use the darkroom 40 hours per week; probably half that.
...
Very good, Daniel. Congrats.
- Leigh
Hi Daniel,
My white darkroom is 10' square.
I have a Thomas hanging ~1 foot below the ceiling near one corner on the wet side at the end farthest from the sink. It provides enough light...
Very nice, Tony.

Simplest method:
Hold the film between your right thumb and first finger, with the long dimension toward you.
The emulsion is then facing you.
With the holder laying flat on a table... ...
