Taking a look at B&H selection, this is what I seem to come up with.

I'm just wanting to make silver gelatin prints on something more archival than RC paper. I do prefer a warm tone, maybe even almost sepia. The negative will be 8x10 FP4+, contact printed. I'm not...
I'm doing well in my printing class at a nearby university. I've been using Ilford Multigrade RC paper so far. It looks nice and is reasonably priced enough to learn on. However, my goal is to...
I usually either make the safelight indirect by placing it in the sink so it does not directly shine on what I'm working on, or place it ~5 or 6 feet away. In the past I've only needed a safelight...
I finally have my enlarger cleaned up, added new Rodagon lens, and have everything I need to make prints. I have a small domed Patterson red safe light I was using for wet plate and was wondering if...
The Bogen 22A is a fairly simple model designed for amateurs at home making 35mm enlargements. It does have a drawer for contrast filters, and I just got a set of Ilford's 3x3. I originally got it...
I tried a 135mm for 4x5 on a Beseler 45MX and got the frame corners cut off. A 150mm worked perfectly. Keep in mind I'm a beginner though.

My partial solution was to switch to wet plate. There are set up costs of course and the learning curve was steep but the cost per image is reasonable.
1. How much citric acid per 500ml of water? It's available at Walmart fairly cheap.
2. I'm looking at replacing existing 50mm lens with an El-Nikkor 50mm f2.8. For a 75mm I'm thinking Schneider.
I've been learning b&w printing at my local university, and having fun. I am assembling what I need to do this at home and have accumulated:
Bogen 22A enlarger with 35mm carrier
printing easel...
Yes, that's my plan. I went through a dozen sheets pretty fast last week!
I've just started reading a little on toner--something I've never worked with before. I do want to try selenium at some point. Will have to do more reading and chat with the instructor. I think to...
I'm getting a simple enlarger to make 8x10 and maybe 5x7 contacts. I've only had one afternoon experience in a local university's darkroom so far (as "guest artist") and have no real experience yet....
I've been using one for the past two years, mostly for wet plate but also for film. The camera was made for professional use and is very solid. I bought it to use heavy 18th C. lenses on. I have...
1. Most likely a chunk of something fell onto the plate during or just after pouring. Example would be a bit of dried collodion from the bottle.
2. This is classic contamination seeping back onto...
Yes, but I would suggest pancake syrup. It's water soluble and easy to wash off and then dry so you can reuse over and over.

As everyone is saying, just start taking photos. The photos you can't take will tell you what you actually need. Myself, as a "general" photographer, I have them spread by roughly doubling focal...
So exactly where can I buy these bargains? I need 5,000 to 10,000ws for wet plate.

I missed that part. I live in South Dakota, have been shooting 4x5 for over 25 years and 8x10 for several years now. South Dakota is a windy place. Trust me when I say that 8x10 and "windy" do not...
Be advised that most of these shutters are no where near the rated top speed in actuality.

Actually, a Petzval construction is two elements cemented together and there are two individual elements slightly spaced apart in the rear. It's common for those two in the rear to not be set...
I bought L&S Petzval 4229. Focal length is about 8 inches (rough measure) and seems to cover 1/2 plate. The retainers holding the elements in the housings are stuck and I haven't tried using a...
There's both a Gundlach Korona and Seneca 11x14 on ebay right now. Both are decent cameras and have the extension rail.

For positives I generally will take a test plate with 4 strips of increasing exposures on it (2-4-6-8 seconds) and see which exposure time looks best when developed at 15 seconds. As for boiling the...
The important thing in LF is lenses. The cameras all basically work the same and rarely make any difference in your photos. You seem to be more after "prestige," and if so right now that's...
After owning several different brands, I settled on a Chamonix and haven't felt any urge to change. Really though you are being distracted by the wrong thing when it comes to LF. It's lenses that...
I use a lightweight Chamonix 4x5, a 1920s Gundlach Korona 5x7, and a 1920s Kodak 2D 8x10. I shoot film, dry plate, wet plate. I'm strictly an outdoor photographer, mostly architecture and...
I was shooting LF so no meter in the camera of course. Was using an incident light meter. I think what was tripping me up was I wasn't sure that lowering ISO 400 to 200 as increasing exposure. Now...
Was shooting TMax ISO 400 today and put a yellow filter on my lens. Realizing that would darken my exposure -1 stop I decided to adjust ISO on my meter to compensate. I think of exposure in terms...
Probably true. In my travels over the decades I've found that people are people wherever you go.

Have been there and was impressed. Very difficult walking though! Mesa Verde is my main "target" in CO on this trip. We've covered most of the northern 2/3 of the state already.

I'm the friendly Midwestern type and can almost always strike up a conversation with just about anybody. My past jobs depended on that. One of the things I like about travel is meeting local...
Living in South Dakota I'm familiar with large reservations. I get along well with the residents. I do watch for drunk drivers at any hour of the day and generally stay out of bars anyway. I've...
Brian-- Don't really want to get into it, but three times now a gun of one sort or another has got me out of a bad situation. I photo in some pretty remote areas and often at night. My main...
Mesa Verde is one of the reasons I wanted to head that way. Went there as a kid and was duly impressed. Will only have something like 8-10 days in NM so we're just trying to get some ideas for...
Wife & I are planning a trip to NM through eastern CO later next month. Am looking at early Indian ruins, Spanish Missions, Bisti Badlands, riding the Cumbres train, and Carlsbad. Also looking at...

Most used filters go pretty cheap on ebay. I just got another one today for my Zeiss Super Ikonta.

You might have to give wet plate a try until Jason is back shipping.
