I second this. If you've not tried to reset the thermal overload circuit breaker, do so first (that little recessed white button). Good luck!

That is awesome, RawheaD!
I don't know what you found when adjusting your better scanning holders, but I found that if I had the opportunity to raise them higher, I could pull even more sharpness into my scans. Wet scanning...
I find T55 to hold up quite well in its old age. Even if you have some undeveloped corners, enjoy!!
I go commando.
Great job! I find the removal of the black backing hit or miss and getting a non-streaky, uniformly clear negative less likely than an "artful' negative. ;)
Oh? Care to share what has worked...
Was the film holder already in place while you were focusing? (I ask because sometimes I knock my focus out when sliding it in). Is your rangefinder calibrated for the lens you're using? I'm...
Blame the scanning, Meekyman. Some folks insist that scanning the negative as a positive (and then inverting in your photo editing software) resolves or greatly reduces this issue. It's an...
Just... WOW.
YES. YES. and YES.
If you're a business accepting money in exchange for goods and services. The onus is on the business to make good on that exchange. Not you to foot the bill.
I...
Wow. I recall the initial thread and I'm going to have to bookmark that site!
I did love them so, but I'm not sure why? Surely they were more expensive and also they were a pain to "unload" (for those of us to develop their e6 or c41). Have you considered a grafmatic sheet...
Terrific! What size tubing? 3/8"?
Good to know, because I suspect mine is higher than the current screws can accommodate. Thank you!
John, I record every exposure (always have). So I shoot, put the darkslide back in, pick up the digital recorder hanging from an arm of my tripod head and enter the film holder #, type of film,...
I just painted permanent numbers on all of my film holders (using nailpolish enamel). It comes in handy if I find that one particular holder seems to be showing signs of lightleaks or other issues...
There is something about the vintage fonts and design of the box that says "shoot me and prepare for greatness". And sure enough... it's giving you stunning results! Lucky, lucky you!
Report back! I've often thought about trying these dry glass plates and would love to see if you have any luck with them.
Uh oh. I never knew about shorpy until now. Time slipping right through my hands again... :)
Wow, thanks Rawhead. I too have had this issue over the years with older sheets. I have to say I've got a box of these stubborn sheets that I refuse to 'throw out'. Every now and then, I'll grab a...
While I would love to opt for a wet darkroom, for me it is a LUXURY of time and expense that I simply do not have. Too many other life commitments I suppose. So for me, the hybrid process was the...
Good suggestions already but I must add another: Ken Ruth at Bald Mountain. My Speed Graphic took a tumble during a night shoot this summer. He came highly recommended and I'd never heard of him...
Good news. I got in to work this morning and (oddly) they left a message on my work phone after hours. Said it's all done, just needed to clarify whether I wanted the B/W roll cut (I forgot to...
Oh thank you, Mark!
Mark Woods - I sent it to whatever address is on the order form, which I cannot recall offhand. I think Chappala St? It's just odd that they give me a turnaround time and then 3 days later all bets...
Not sure if anyone's using Samy's lab for film development. I usually develop everything myself but I'm in the middle of some labor intensive home projects that must get done. From an earlier post...
Nothing more frustrating when you can't get an image from those last remaining boxes of Polaroid film. If the sheets came out white, then chemicals did not spread across the surface for development....
I rely on Shakodo dot com for answers to questions like these. Good luck!
Great question!
The McMaster-Carr site seems to have felts and foams but those with adhesive backings seem to only go up to 180 degrees.
I wonder if there is a way to get non-adhesive...
I agree with the above. Ektar is quite contrasty and I find it almost as sensitive as slide film. It can be absolutely beautiful and I do shoot it, but only in non-contrasty lighting conditions. ...
Well then what would be the fun for folks to not be able to tell posters with legitimate questions that they should run a search first before asking something that's been asked many times before. ;)
Thanks Dan,
I develop my own C41 and E6 but am backlogged after vacation. I need help! :) I'll give them a shout via email.
Does Samy's have a price list online? I can't find anything about developing services from their website.
Yes, either the polaroid 545, 545i or 545Pro will all work. I respectfully disagree with pulling slowly. I've been using my old polaroid stock (and multiple backs) for some time now and I have...
I've never checked into their community darkroom (in Providence), but they may have some answers for you: http://www.as220.org/front/
Cheers, from a 3rd gen. RI summer resident :)
I'm bookmarking this thread. I've always used the multi-sided manfrotto plates (don't think it's octagonal as mentioned by the 1st poster) and can confirm that there are times it appears to be...
I ran across this quote last week and I absolutely love it!
ok... so no achromatic back for me. ;-p
How fun is that! Big congratulations to you!
It's always nice to hear about places others are visiting - I think I'll make a mental note, so thank you! I'm headed up to NY at the end of the week for the Photo Expo and plan to make the rounds...
