Ditto on Louie's advice. But make sure you always put the sheets of film in a regular order and keep records of which exposure is next in the pile. Otherwise you'll have problems adjusting your...

The softening of the pinhole works perfectly here. Very nice.
Kevinjp: Very inviting winter scene and great tonal range.
Corran: Welcome back. The wait for the waterfall was worth it.

Thanks. There are backbone planks along the top of each side that are 4"x16" by 48 feet. They worked with some huge lumber! It takes several minutes of staring at the triangulations to absorb the...

Iga: I like the middle one best. I feel the far one has too many separate elements in it and the nearest one is too much about the tire. The middle composition seems just right to me. Which do you...
rfesk and Jim: Thanks, the capabilities of modern small flashes add a lot of possibilities in tricky situations.

Very frustrating, I'm sure. Is the cord attaching firmly to the shutter on your camera? On one of my cameras the socket is a little sloppy and I have to use masking tape to hold it down more firmly. ...
Yer darn tootin'. Thinking about our favorite he-man hero I noted that right there on John Wayne Drive across from the courthouse, the Iowa Theater is now showing "Brokeback Mountain." Released in...
Not the largest courthouse in Iowa, but maybe the most ornate. (Winterset, IA) I really should use view camera movements for this, but photoshopped the perspective as a quick fix. 500c/m, 60mm, TriX....

Nice one. I've walked at that spot many times and never visioned that composition. It works very well. How old was that Konica, anyway?

I give. Your roots are more impressive than mine. Good choice of format too.
Finally getting some snow, yippee. It's a mystery how trees cling to rock faces like this, but impressive nonetheless.

Coastal forts are great for B&W photography. I miss my Ft. Ebey and Ft. Casey now that I've moved to the Midwest. Thanks for showing this.
Paul: I agree. These are very hard scenes to capture the range of available gloom. Great job.
I arranged my photo too. I often prep scenes with brush cutters or various hand tools, so I'm not above doctoring the "found" image.
Spectacular.
Bernard: Your version is spare, uncluttered and holds my eye well. Very nice. Mine is maybe less staged and more natural to the location (see below). Thanks for posting.

Thanks. Just the reassurance we needed. We'll go with 1:9.
Our darkroom club has run out of Dektol and bought some Ilford Multigrade developer instead. Instructions say to mix just before using in either 1:9 or 1:14 ratio. Which has worked for you, if any?...
