    Re: De Vere Enlarger factory

    Wow !

I am really impressed and happy that DeVere is still in business. I have an oddball electric 504 that I really LOVE. I'll take photos of it sometime and post here.
  2. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

Thank you Mike. I try to always use the same paper, this makes the dry-down more predictable. It has taken a long time, but it has finally gotten easier. Also, using the Ilford 500 head makes it...
  3. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

    Ha ! :)
  4. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

You have a great idea here, I'll shoot some time lapse of me working the enlarger, then edit into this video. That way we all
Hear some more Dave Brubeck :)
  5. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

Yes - it is very helpful. I process each print for 3 minutes with pretty much continual agitation. Being able to sit down is really nice. A HiFi is also equally important.
  6. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

Ha ! You were very close. If you find yourself in the neighborhood again I'd love to meet you and your family. We're about 20 minutes form downtown F-Berg.
  7. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

Soooo - I let the prints dry on screens and sometimes fresh towels. Then I use my Seal 500 to hot press individual prints flat (usually 225 degrees for 2 minutes). I then let the prints sit...
  8. Re: 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

NAw - I made 3 of each, I jsut recounted, there were 18 done that day. I was beat afterwards, felt like I mowed 2 acres of lawn.
  9. 8 hour printing session made into a 2 minute time lapse video :)

Good morning all - For fun I mounted a Nikon D3 on the ceiling of my darkroom a few weeks ago and let it run for a full Saturday's worth of printing. Just finished the video this weekend- it was a...
  10. Re: Woot! I just found N2 Burst development tanks and bought them!

I've been running N2 burst in my home lab for about 3 years. My Burst interval timer is turned on and off by the relay in my Gra-Lab timer. So I jsut set it for my desired process time, which in...

    Re: Durst Pro Gear Replacement

It's called a pinion gear. There is a #1 and a #2 pinion gear IIRC. On all of my L184's there were two kinds of gears, one made of metal (a brass alloy if some kind) and nylon. The nylon ones were...

Re: The one you did NOT miss

I like this just as it is, if it were me, I wouldn't go back and reshoot. I think you nailed it the first time, very nice.

    Re: July 2014 Portraits

Both are outstanding, very well exposed and processed and they feel natural. Great job, keep 'me coming.
  14. Re: Images shot on X-ray film

Also a fantastic capture, I will do some shooting this weekend, ya'll have inspired me.
  15. Re: Images shot on X-ray film

DANG !! Now THAT's! what I'm talking about - very, very nice man. Don't change a thing with whatever your process is - you cracked the code.

    Re: Old Things,Farms,Barns,Buildings, Plus

Thank you, looks like we both enjoy old buildings in the desert.
  17. Re: Images shot on X-ray film

Hi there, with the 360 mounted and my subject at about 8 to 10 feet away the bellows weren't completely stretched out. I did shoot a few images closer and still gad enough bellows. I was able to...

    Re: Old Things,Farms,Barns,Buildings, Plus

Is this old enough? Tumacácori Mission, Arizona. Made during a photo field trip with my Large Format Photography class from Scottsdale Community College (Rod Klukas taught it). Probably around...

    Re: April 2014 Portraits

These weren't all shot in the springtime - but I did copy them today. I have been sorting thru all of my negatives, found my 8X10 from 2002 thru 2005. Thought I'd post the better ones here. all...
  20. Re: Images shot on X-ray film

Made yesterday - my Son's best friend Eric. KMV, 360mm Graphic Kowa, Agfa green at 400, HC110 dil b, nitrogen burst on hangers. Copy-stand shot with Nikon D2x and 35mm lens. PS3 burning and...

    Re: post your urban landscapes

Don't know if this falls into the urban landscapes thread or not - this was shot by the side of the road in 2005. The Ajo Highway (HWY 86) West of Tucson about 25 miles. I used to live out there. ...

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

    YES!!! Outstanding image.
  23. Re: Images shot on X-ray film

The light face was my fault, little too much dodging - the straight PS3 inversion made his skin tones come out about 2 stops too dark, but that could be because of bad digital exposure. I was...
  24. Re: Started to test for film speed - honest! But I ran into problems and gave up...

Very insightful Darin - you're idea about just making slight adjustments is sound, and gets me to shooting faster. I posted an image (that last one of the weekend) over in the xRay image folder. ...
  25. Re: Images shot on X-ray film

    Hello everyone, name is Jeromie,

This is my first post to the xRay thread. From all of the reading I did here, and the good looking images, I decided to start shooting 8x10 once again (after...

    Ahhhh-

That makes better sense. Funny how stupid I can feel when the camera is loaded and ready and I'm looking at the meter - so the fine folks how make Copal shutters knew what they were...

    Re: April 2014 Portraits

    Thanks Tim -

WE really love it here in Fredericksburg. We live on a 2.5 acre lot - tons of trees. My youngest son and his friends have many forts, best way to spend time - outside getting ticks!
  28. Re: Started to test for film speed - honest! But I ran into problems and gave up...

Hmmmm - I have visited Fred in his home when I lived in Tucson, real nice fellow. Problem I have is I am shooting X-Ray film - maybe he has some of that in his stash? Can't hurt to ask.
  29. Started to test for film speed - honest! But I ran into problems and gave up.....

    ....and just started shooting.

For many years I've told myself that I would do the Zone VI film speed test, all the way thru, but it kept getting put off. So yesterday I started to do it, then...

    Re: April 2014 Portraits

My first 8X10 work in nearly 13 years. Shot these yesterday in my front yard. Agfa Green xRay film, shot at 200, HC110 dil B (in hangers by nitrogen burst - 2 second bursts, every 10 seconds for 5...
  31. Re: Going to shoot 8X10 this weekend after nearly 10 years

This made me laugh out loud! I struggled yesterday with the 35 mindset of taking 10 full film holders everywhere with me (even my back yard). I have to get a grip and take my time, not be worried...
  32. Re: Going to shoot 8X10 this weekend after nearly 10 years

Just souled my first 4 sheets.....wow, that's a lot of contrast! Yup, first two scratched when I had them in the perma wash, till then, they were fine. I have a nitrogen burst rig, so the film...

Wow, just wow. This is very nice. I bet it just glows as a mounted contact print!
  34. Re: Going to shoot 8X10 this weekend after nearly 10 years

I shoot 35 by the bag full. I wanted to start 8x10 again but WOW the film prices. After reading all the good posts here about Xray, I thought it might be fun (and I got 200 sheets for less than...
  35. Re: Built myself some lensboards....wow - that's a lot of work....

I think I'll end up doing this later. The good news is that I could probably still use my homemade boards, just pull off the Velcro.
  36. Re: Built myself some lensboards....wow - that's a lot of work....

    Hi hoffner,
On the KMV there is a recessed channel around the entire perimeter where the lens board would mount. The original KMV lens boards had a matching hump which acted as a light trap when...
  37. Built myself some lensboards....wow - that's a lot of work....

The day before yesterday I finished building my own KMV lensboards - due to job and family time constraints, it took me nearly 6 months (and got me 7 stitches because of a grinder accident)!

    I...
  38. Going to shoot 8X10 this weekend after nearly 10 years

Hopefully this is the right forum for this post -

Sold off my 8X10 gear 10 years ago - been slowly building a system again (restored a KMV, a camera I've wanted for years) - got a few lenses -...

    Re: favorite enlarger timer?

I really loved my Lektra TM-8. he version I had used tubes inthe power supply, produced a nice smell when it got good and warm. Never let me down.
  40. Re: Kostiner stainless tongs - what to replace the missing rubber tape with?

Ha! That's a really good idea. I have one tong that is still naked - I may just try that. Very good idea, thanks !
