The decision was made for two primary reasons. One is workflow, the other is revenue-gathering opportunities. The $$$ and length of time I was spending from capture to finished product was not...
Hi everyone - I've recently sold most of my 4x5 gear to move to an all-digital workflow. I will certainly miss the detail and quality of large format film, and below you will find a link to the last...

Well, it might make a nice desktop background :)
To be perfectly honest with you - I have never run into a situation where I was hurt by stacking filters. Although - I'm sure there is a limit to where bad things start to happen, but I've stacked...

Very cool effect, I like this a lot.
I don't use those two filters, but I have never been disappointed in their products, they are all top notch.
I for one really would prefer never to have a color cast imparted in my shots because...

Well, a very large percentage of folks use a Pentax spotmeter. I use a Sekonic L-558, which has both incident/flash and spot metering - it has always met my needs. I don't think you could go wrong...
Speaking of which...Precision is top-notch! My B1 came back and it was like I had purchased a brand-new B1.
I look at it this way:
Right now I'm shooting 4x5, developing, scanning, then uploading to my site.
As much as I love working with the 4x5, I hate the workflow of having to scan all of my film....
I think this definitely gives the "surreal" affect - I like it! I wonder what one of those swirly lenses using this effect would look like....try it out!
I nominate this for "Most appropriate title" of all time :) Awesome Jim.
A number of people have contacted me asking if I have contact information for his family. I'm sorry but I don't. Unfortunately the feedback was left before I found out the whole story.
I just received word that Ted Burford has died unexpectedly after inquiring about why I hadn't received my E-bay purchase.
For those of you who didn't know, he made items for large format...
Hi folks, any other TK45s (Technikardan) users here using a particular brand of darkcloth?
I sold my Blackjacket not too long ago as it didn't work well with the camera. What is everyone using...
I have the L-558, always been real happy with it.
Ouch - looks like you ate your ice axe. How did it taste? :)
I've been using my Linhof TK45s now for about a year or so and while it has worked well, I recently had an opportunity to look at and try the Arca Swiss field with micrometrix, and honestly I think...
A year or so my brother told me a story of how his mother thought it would be very economical for him to take a Greyhound from the Seattle area out to see her in Wyoming.
One of the highlights...
I also have the Rodenstock Grandagon-N 90mm f/4.5 and shoot landscapes as well as interiors with both color transparency film and black and white.
I don't have the center filter for this lens and...
Wow, some of those are in a realm of creepiness that until now I was totally unfamiliar of.
I picked up the XLS - I can't believe how much nicer this is going to be for backpacking than the 1410... It is so much lighter.
I have an 82mm Polarizer and here is what I do:
Lens -> Step-up Ring -> Polarizer -> Lee Wide Angle Adapter -> Foundation Holder -> GND
I had read in a few places that it is best to have the...
Typically the green ones throw a dot that can been seen much further away.
This is just one of those situations that cannot be avoided unless you blend two exposures. That is of course, unless you have an ND filter shaped exactly like the sandstone :)
Thanks guys - I'm thinking the XLS will give me the biggest bang for the buck...or should I say about 750 of them.... :(
Busy summer for a lot of us it seems!
Congrats Preston....

So here's the deal, I've currently got a G1410 aluminum tripod that weighs 8.4 lbs and folds to about 29 inches. Max height is like 63 inches or so.
I've always been a fan of the Gitzos, so my...
