I certainly recommend avoiding Precision Camera Works.

Good Day,
Where can I get large format lenses cleaned these days?
I've got a couple of nice vintage lenses that I don't want to ruin when trying myself. The glass developed some sort of spotty...
Great idea, but they may not have anti-Newton glass. I've updated my original post to reflect my quest for anti-Newton...
Good Day,
After a few years of absence and a growing backlog of 8x10 negatives, I'm getting back into printing.
My contact printing glass has a scratch and I want to replace it. I have frames...
Hi Folks,
What type of glue can I use to fix a bellows that is coming apart at the seam?
Is there something that any small grocery/hardware store carries? I'm on the road...
Many thanks in...
Hi Folks,
Thanks for your suggestions.
Meanwhile, I found out that B&H in NY offer free shipping for orders > $99 and they do ship Pyrocat HD powder kits to Canada; but they do not ship the...
Hi Folks,
I'm a little bit lost after relocating to Canada.
Where does one mail order raw chemicals for Pyrocat in Canada?
I used to order from a shop in Montreal when I lived up here years ago,...
1. Healthy lumbar discs.
2. Camera
3. Tripod
4. Film
5-10. Optional
Now that's a thought. ;-)
I might have said the same not too long ago, but try my lumbar discs for a day and perhaps you might change your mind...
If money wasn't an issue, which tripod would be the most light-weight yet still suitable choice for a ca. 8 lb. 8x10 field camera?
Today, I received a reimbursement check from Light Impressions for an order I placed in 2010 and which was never fulfilled. Just be a little more patient - their processing time seems to be around 2...
Good Day everyone,
I am looking for a photographer who has an inventory of mediterranean subject matter in color (!). Large or medium format should be ok as we are looking to get a large print...
Perhaps you could ask Tony Hauser where he gets his paper; he is a well-known Canadian Platinum photographer (and lives in Toronto):

Just passed through security at Houston Bush airport on my way to Europe and thought I would share this.
After requesting a manual inspection of one box of 8x10 sheet film, a swap test was done. ...
It is actually straightforward to use the principle of exclusion utilizing the search feature on Berlebach's website. They are either too heavy, too light, too short, or too expensive for my purpose.
That's right. None.
All,
Thanks for your comments. I am better off with another Ries J100-2. The plan is to deposit one tripod in Germany for regular trips in the foreseeable future. One option would have been to...
Which one? It seems that the UNI series tripods are either too short or too heavy for 8x10. My Ries J100-2 weighs ca. 11 lbs, extends to 62" and is fully adequate for 8x10.
Good day,
Can anyone please provide their opinion on Berlebach tripods, for example, the Report 4012, for use with an 8x10 camera? I am looking for a Berlebach with about the same capability as a...
Excellent point! By the same token, I am surprised that Tony Hauser was not mentioned yet.

Good Day,
Does anyone have experience with a Rotatrim paper cutter to cut 20x24 paper down to 12x20? Which cutter would you suggest? I consider buying this one (should be just large enough):

A questions to those who have used both Phillips and Chamonix 8x10 cameras: how sturdy is the Chamonix by comparison to the Phillips? According to several forums, the Phillips seems to be one of...
My interest in digital negatives is marginal. However, I can imagine exploring this process to rescue some in-camera negatives that are scratched, bent, developed unevenly, or are in some other way...
Sandy,
Thank you for your detailed answer.

"This class has a kit and/or a lab fee to be paid at the end of this workshop"
Can this fee please be specified?
Thanks, muskedear
That is a good point, David, and it might amplify the problem when using filters. The spectral sensitivity of PL25 and PL50 are very similar if not identical, and they both are less red-sensitive...
David, I think can definitely exlude that the film is PL100 (that is, 100 speed film). I ran through 3 boxes of normal PL100 (2 from JandC, 1 from fotoimpex; all 3 consistent) before starting a new...
Ted, I bought the film from JandC a while back. It was a regular sales item. At this point, I feel uneasy about contacting them. For one, I did not keep the receipt, and I have had the film in the...
Ah... that is a useful piece of wisdom. I will be sure to test my bath water next time
my film and I take a bath. That should make me a betters pros.
(tongue in cheek).
All: I posted the message below on the APUG website and then thought it would be a good idea to post it here, too. Regards, Markus Albertz
