I can very easily see the difference between 360 DPI and 240 DPI from a digital capture. In addition, the bayer artifacts from digital capture are easily seen in foliage, even at 360 DPI, although...

It's stories like this that made me choose quickloads over changing bags, manual holders and all that. Your cost savings will go in a hurry with this sort of thing going on.
I use a 65/8 on my Shen Hao. I have a bag bellows but don't need it as I am not using any rise/fall or shift with the 65 lens. The Shen Hao is very affordable if a bit heavy for some people's...
Some of you guys need your eyes checked. . .
I have a repro-claron 305/9 in a Syncro Compur 1 shutter.
Anyone do tests with this lens or repro-clarons in general to determine the best aperture for shooting a subject at infinity with no...
Why not just borrow a dSLR and 50/1.8? I mean I love my Shen Hao and everything but I would never try and shoot in a dimly lit bar with a f/5.6 lens wide open. ISO 6400 film sounds pretty grainy.
I'd recommend you shoot a test scene with your film and scan it to see if the grain is going to be a problem.
I think it's pretty obvious what you would say about buying one of these used, on ebay :-)
Why did you select this film?
Tough one. Quite a few I really like.
Here's one.
Sony DSC-F828. Can't wait to reshoot it on 4x5, hopefully this winter!

Sorry forgot the picture.

Hamley,
You know I'm married to horse lovers therefore I am perpetually broke! Therefore no lenses over $300 will ever come down the chimney in my house. The money for that 65/4 Nikkor would buy...
Aaron,
I'd love to pick up that NIB 00 prontor press if it will fit Syncro Compur 00-mounted lens cells. Max speed of 1/125 is perfectly fine with me as I shoot landscapes.
The LF guy at my...
Thanks for the offer Aaron.
This thread seems to indicate that the prontor press and syncro compur 00 are different sizes.
The shutter for my Schneider Super-Angulon 65/8 is unrepairable.
How can I convert this lens which is designed for a 00 shutter to a size 0 shutter?
The problem with using a film like Velvia is that everything in your shadows is lost, lost forever.
I have developed the following personal rules from painful experience trying to pull detail out...
I just sent her an email.
Thanks for the info!
What is the best place to get a 00 Syncro-Compur shutter for my Schneider Super-Angulon 65/8 repaired or replaced?
I LOVE this lens and I can't stand having it unusable!
Ellen,
You can get a new GG frame for like $15 bucks.
I didn't install my folding focusing hood, it came with mine. But sounds like you didn't like it -- I am pretty much thrilled with mine...
I use it with normals and long lenses most of the time instead of the dark cloth. Useless with wide angle lenses with my Beattie Intescreen. But it's a snap to pop it off when you go wide.
It...
For those who don't want to wait on the 4990 comparison,
Quentin Bargate has a pretty impressive comparison linked from the boards at photo i:
Comparison of Howtek Drum scan and Epson 4990 @...
This is truly great stuff.
How long until the Canon 9950 and Epson 4990 will be added?
Howard Meigs was a large format photographer who wanted to photograph the falls and decided to wade across the Little River with his backpack on. His friends watched in horror as the swift currents...
I have a beattie screen and a 65/8 (actually more f/5.6ish) and indeed have to bob my head way far all around to see the entire image. This seems to be a characteristic of the beattie design and...
As long as we're taking requests, please take your chainsaw after you take care of Hamley's tree and go up the Big Creek trail. There is a nasty fallen tree in the river, right at the most scenic...
Instead of $1200 for an SS XL which will help some, why not spend $250 for a wide-angle fresnel and extra back which will help even more by illuminating the GG evenly?
Look at the bright side Scott. I know you blew $10 on ruined QL film but at least you didn't spend $70,000 on a MF digital solution with far less image quality that just got killed off by its...
Single coated SA 90/8. Not sure which shutter, probably Synchro Compur.
How tough is it to fix a broken cable release socket, or to replace a missing thread from a cable release socket?
There's a bargain lens I'm thinking of picking up if fixing this is relatively...
Mission Accomplished! Thanks everyone for the help. My friend Bill Stice lent his adjustable lens wrench and opened it up for me. Turns out both internal areas needed cleaning, and quite! Time...
The auction is over now -- wish I had bid for it and picked it up!
Well the experts would be disassembling the whole lens, cleaning every surface, and putting it back together again. Then they would do the same for the shutter.
I'm just taking off a flat disk of...
I can see some kind of gunkish - looking stuff inside my Super-Angulon 65/8 on the hypercurved convex bubble element. It looks like with an appropriate lens wrench I can unscrew a ring securing the...
I own this lens is a Synchro Compur 00 and I really, really like it. Very sharp. Lots of light fall-off and screw-in filters will obstruct your image corners. I shoot print film and lighten the...
I've read that this is a clone of the Super Angulon 90/8. Is it a worthy copy or a junker in the sharpness department?
I have an older Schneider Super-Angulon 65/8 with an image circle rated even smaller than the Nikkor. The lens has a lot of light fall-off so I use it with print film and I adjust the gradient in...
Most ND filters block much more visible light than infrared.
I use an ND filter with my Sony 828 in nightshot mode and it's almost all infrared light that gets through.
I have the SA 65/8 and it comes with a synchro compur 00 shutter.
I own the Schneider superangulon 65/8. It's a tremendously fun focal length and I'm impressed with the sharpness at the apertures I use for landscape. The problem is, light falloff in the corners...
