Re: Are you in the Homeland Security database?

The Port Authority has always operated under the Robert Mugabe manual of civil liberties. They were hassling people (read, yours truly) for taking pictures thirty-five years ago. Also you can't eat,...
  2. Re: Looking for articles/portfolios on night photography

I had saved this link a while ago, I never had a chance to go through it in detail but it looked interesting.

    Re: Pinhole 4x5

If you want to do pinhole you can just mount one on a lens board.

If you're interested in zone plates, a shutter is really necessary as the exposure times are very short. I use a Speed-i-o-scope...

    Re: Lens Shade, Part Deux

I have the Lee hood. It was not clear to me, either, what advantage the Cokin hood had. The Cokin hood does have a built-in filter holder, whereas the Lee fits on the front of the Cokin holder. Other...
  5. Re: Interesting locations around Hollywood Florida?

In the Hollywood - Ft Lauderdale area, you can look for rivers than run inland. I know there's one in downtown Ft Lauderdale that has a bit of the flavor of what you're looking for, although you...

Re: Who to contact for a tripod permit in NYC

I've set up a number of times along the waterfront in Hoboken. Should I have been getting a permit?

    Re: Digital Negatives

I used Mark Nelson's system to make a curve for digital negatives for POP paper. It was time-consuming (mainly because POP is *so* slow), but in the end I'm happy with the curve. I'd recommend it.

    Re: HP CombiPlan question

Yes, you can use it that way. I've also heard of people who buy extra tanks and do the whole process in the dark, moving the holder from tank to tank.

    Re: Photo Editing Software Choices

Probably true for now. But the code base for PS has to be getting awfully long in the tooth after so many years. I wouldn't be surprised to see Adobe try to migrate a lot of PS photo-related...

    Re: HP CombiPlan question

I've always heard complaints about the Combi-Plan, but I've personally been pretty happy with it.

The only thing to be careful of is that the film is in the proper channel at the bottom, and...

    Re: Photo Editing Software Choices

I'd also add to the suggestion to look at Picture Window Pro. It was designed as a photo editing program and is much more intuitive than Photoshop.

Re: safely storing and moving exposed film

In the absence of an empty box, I use the black plastic bags from Freestyle. I put the sheets into a 4x5 bag then that bag into a 5x7 bag. I've had labs complain I shouldn't do that, but I've never...

    CambridgeWorld.Com

Olden are still there. You enter through a novelty store on Broadway and go up the elevator. Sort of a different entrance. It still seems to have quite a bit of inventory.

    Epson R220 vs C88 for B&W Printing?

I have a C86 and it has worked well for me.

However, I think things have moved on and if you are buying new, the R220 would be the way to go. Price is about the same either way.
  15. Using BTZS with a scanning workflow, how to?

I've been interested in this question as well and have not been able to find much information.

I would guess that a scanner is probably similar to grade 0 or 00 paper. On the other hand, as you...
