I made a light box with the 5mm infrared LEDs available from radioshack and use them in conjunction with a pair of toy infrared goggles so that I can develop my sheet film by inspection. Works...
Naphtha is just lighter fluid. Zippo lighter fluid, not butane. They also sell it at hardware stores as a solvent for paint, but I think it might be a bit less quality than the stuff they are...
