Thanks for the replies, everyone! I’m going to go try and check it out in person next weekend if it hasn’t sold already.

Unfortunately, I don't have that option unless I buy it!

Hopefully someone knows! I found an older Arca monoball locally at a good price, but I'm unfamiliar with this particular version. Can the platform be removed so that I can install a QR...
I just picked up a Rittreck View 4x5 to fix up and modify. Most of it seems pretty straightforward and easy to disassemble/reassemble, but if any of you have worked on one and have tips, I'd like to...
I'm in Saitama City, near Urawa Station. I currently have a 4x5, but for now no lens, film holders, or place to develop, so I'm temporarily out of the large format game, but always want to meet other...
I had no idea! I would love to go, especially if I could get permission to photograph him in his workshop, but my Japanese is still too rough for that. I live nearby. This is going to dominate my...

A handheld multiple-exposure experiment from about seven years ago that I finally scanned and finished recently. This shot is of a statue in Chicago, and was done with a Mamiya 645 Pro,...
I have a small personal project I've been working on the last few years, and would like to get other people involved starting this year. The basic idea is to plan and make a photograph with an...

From a trip to an important mountain last summer. Rainy and relatively cold, it was...
Ok, so there’s a lot I want to respond to point-by-point. Good ideas are happening and I appreciate all the responses. I’ll follow up in greater detail when I’m not on a moving train.
Also, as...
A gentle nudge re: all replies thus far: masking the GG, holder, etc isn't what I'm after. I'm going to modify a back and either make or modify a set of holders that will shoot 4x4" cut film...
I've had an idea lodged in my head for a long enough time that I want to start work on it. There is no deadline, I don't mind working slowly in my spare minutes and hours to make something...
Update: I got the lens back from the shop two days ago, and I'll have to re-measure when I'm not as tired, but pretty sure the OD is 102mm, so that Lee holder probably won't work for me. I had one...

Hasselblad, 80mm, Rollei IR film and IR72 filter.
Very high quality indeed, I'm sure. What filters are in the complete set?
You know, that's a very good point. I had one of those a long time ago when I had a 90mm SA XL. I'll have to measure it when it comes back from the shop (currently having the shutter repaired and two...
I suspect ACROS 120 is still safe for now, but given it's my main thing, I'm tempted to buy a small freezer (because tiny apartment) and stuff it full of as many pro-packs as possible just in case.
Not exactly LF in application, but this crowd will know best. I'm going to be working on a project over the next few years, and I'll primarily be using an RZ67 with the 75mm shift lens, which takes...
I've already replied to this a while back, but it seems to bear repeating months later. I'm still having fun with it. People seem to expect some huge thing out of it because it's popular. I expect...
It was a very damp weekend, but never seeing the tops of the mountains actually added a lot of atmosphere. Still, I'm hoping for better weather when I go back in a few weeks.
It's a cool idea. Not really practical, but cool. I'd like to see how this idea will have developed in 5 or 10 years. Great ideas often have funky, fairly impractical beginnings.

Another from my weekend in Hakushu. It was the first time in a long time that I felt like I was actually experiencing real quiet in...

My first weekend in Japan, I went camping with friends and worked on promo photography for a cycling event in Hakushu (Yamanashi...
My legs need only a handful of calories to carry me, my Hasselblad wouldn't know what to do with a battery. If all batteries ceased to exist/work, I'd be even more likely to get out and about.

Lots of joss paper being burnt in the neighborhood these days.
If you go to the hardware store, it should be a pretty easy bit to find. Either 1/4-20 or 3/8-16, both easily found in the USA. Find something of an appropriate length and you're good to go for a...
Thing is, I like apples and bicycles. I don't mind arriving at the conclusion that one is X and the other is purple because it's Tuesday. Weird comparisons can make for interesting observations.

For what it's worth, this is something I could do in a month or so after I've finished the move I'm in the middle of. I've got both on hand and could borrow a 4x5 for it.
My current setup and preference:
Induro CT213 (review on my Photo Otaku blog if anyone's interested) is great in all regards. I'd buy it again without hesitation. Strong, light, a joy to use, etc....
Ha! And I say "curmudgeonly" knowing full well that others would use it to describe me in plenty of other capacities. It's not all bad. We all grumble about something.
No targeting! Nothing aimed at you, Greg! But there *is* grumbling. Real, curmudgeonly grumbling.
Are people still arguing about this? If you don't like the subscription, don't subscribe. Stick with whatever aging version of Photoshop you have and grumble about it until the day you die....
Lunar new year tonight, but rather than go out and party, I spent my evening solo with camera and tripod, exploring my neighborhood. Time well spent.

At least for my purposes, I see GPS information as being of primary importance for scouting. Coordinates tagged with notes are searchable, and as I'm wandering around I often have ideas I can't act...
The practical considerations are the big obstacle, but in principle I'm all for this.
Vinny - I love the gradation of contrast foreground to background with the fog.
Really liking the fence shot. Feels like a lot of places I've been.
Jim - I'm going to have to check that out this year. Never heard of it before!
