Nice! Wide open with a little front shift so both her eyes are sharp?
FP4 film with Zeiss-Dagor F/9 12.5cm lens. FA-1027 developer and Chamonix 45N2 camera.
Another stunning good one! Why am I not using this lens more?
John,
Your picture makes me want to try color film. :-)
John,
So nice! Wide open? What film did you use?
If you have to have a 180mm lens that covers 8x10, the Zeiss Dagor f/9 is a good choice. Not easy to find, but it has an image circle of 15 1/2 inches. Tiny and sharp. My favorite 810 wide angle...
I don't have special sunglasses to watch. Is it safe to watch it on my 16x20 camera ground glass with some filters? Red or ND?
Wonderful image! Film with ND filter?
Welcome to the forum and that is a spectacular shot! Sometimes we only need one shot for a trip and I am glad to hear you enjoyed Yosemite.
So well said! Thank you!
24x32.
It was five and half years ago when I drove to Santa Barbara and delivered this camera to Lindsey. She was laughing and her eyes beamed with so much joy when we set the camera up in her studio and...
Hans,
I like this one, very nice composition and tonality!

14” commercial ektar or 14" Dagor if I have to choose one for portraiture and landscape.
Not in my experience.
#3 shutter as well. For most of my landscape shits, I use F/32 and smaller apertures anyway.
John,
I had the same issue with my 14" gold dot Dagor with my 11x14 camera. Used during a trip to Bryce Canyon and nearly all pictures had blurred corners. That experience taught me to use that...
I use my 14" Trigor for more than 80% of my 11x14 landscape shots. It covers that format at infinity with sharp corners and some room to spare. My 12" Trigor actually covers 11x14 format quite well...
I can confirm the existence of 9 1/2" and 12" Trigor lenses. They behave the same as the 14" one: sharp as process lenses and cover a bit wider than Dagor lenses.
Nice and I especially like the way the foreground is treated.
I have a 21cm Lanthar lens on my super d without any problems.
Philip,
I really enjoy your work and it is a website.
I use the bag mags all the time and had the leather pouch replaced with modern material so there are no fall-off particles inside.
Indeed a beautiful picture, Simon. If the picture was mine, I would crop the bottom just a bit as the grass in the middle foreground is a little distracting and does not add much to the composition.
I am not on Facebook and have no access to your posting there. Why can't you just do it here?
I was in a juried local art exhibition a few weeks ago. About 30-40 photographers among 260 artists in drawings, paintings, 3-d art and photography. I walked around and found out my two 8x10 contact...
240673 iphone snapshot of an 8x10 print. HP5 8x10 film with Apo-Lanthar lens 30cm at F5.6.
very very beautiful.
Tmax 400 with a Zeiss’s Dagor f/9 12.5cm lens. Chamonix 45N2. iPhone snapshot of the contact print.
Dear friends,
I will participate in a photographic exhibition with three other photographers in Santa Ana College Art Gallery in southern California from Aug 30th to Nov. 8th. The reception will...
Chamonix 11x14 and you will need a lens support for that lens plus the shutter box.
I have a Packard shutter box between the camera front standard and the lens.
Nice! Natural light or studio light? My favorite portrait lens with my 11x14 camera with its 810 back.
I have to say Zeiss Dagor f/9 lenses are very nice. The 21cm version has an 18 inch image circle at small stops.
Andy,
Sweet. I still have some 180 sheets of 5x7 cut from 11x14 and 50 sheets of 11x14. I really need to shoot them. They are getting really old.
Very nice, Andy! Did you rate this film at ISO 3 or lower?
Thank you!
Biogen38,
Can you find out from that book how many Apo-Lanthar 30cm lenses were made? I saw the number around 226 quoted somewhere if I remember correctly. Just curious.
Thanks.
