According to B&H's website, BW-65 is still available. Thanks for your comment.

I've been using Ilford Bromophen to develop paper for many years. It's just fine. I came across Photographers' Formulary BW-65. Has anyone tried BW-65? How does it compare to Bromophen? Will I...
HP5 is fine. Develop in PMK or X-Tol.

I have a batch of TF-4 that has been sitting unused in brown jugs for at least a year, probably more. I hate to throw it away if it's still good.
Please forgive my forgetfulness. Remind me how to...
I really like this photograph.

Thank you to all who have added information. I'll be very grateful for tips about things to do and see as my wife and I travel east from Wyoming across Nebraska.
David
Thank you to all who replied. This was very helpful.

I'm planning a road trip with my 8x10 Tachihara. I would like to take some landscape photos with an extra wide angle lens. If a normal lens is 300mm, then I'm thinking of a focal length of about...
All of these comments are really helpful. I'm beginning to see my journey in my mind"s eye. Please keep them coming.

Dear xkaes:
Thank you for asking. We're thinking of going in August or September. My general thought will be to spend about three or four days to drive from San Francisco to Grand Teton National...
I'm thinking of taking a road trip from San Francisco to Omaha. The thought will be to spend some time in Grand
Teton national park and then drive east over Wyoming and Nebraska. What are...
I've been using xtol for years, almost always 1:1. I just follow Kodak development directions and develop film at box speed. It has always worked just great with fine grain and good contrast. It...
I like xtol. It's easy to use. It's very sharp. It gives fine grain. It gives consistent results. The only drawback is that you have to be patient and add part B of the powder very gradually when...
I simply borrowed the book from the public library. As I recall, they used interlibrary lon as the book has a narrow following.

I like these.

For what it's worth, I use xtol a lot. It has a very fine grain and very sharp contrast. It's easy to use, and lasts a long time. The only drawback is that it takes a while to mix a batch up. I...
I use TF-4 and Ilford rapid fixer. Both work fine.

Yes, I think that the red blind effect is what I am looking for. Do I want a blue filter or a green one?
Thanks.

I would like to get a contrast in prints similar to that which we see in wet plate. Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I dreaming?

I keep the paper in the developer for 1 minute and 45 seconds. I pull it out with bamboo tongs and let it drain for 15 seconds. Then i put it in the stop bathe for about half a minute. Drain again...
I have used x-tol and pmk. Both work fine.

This is quite interesting. The original Ilfochrome dyes were developed by the Swiss chemical company, Ciba. Ciba merged with Geigy to become Ciba-Geigy. I believe Ciba-Geigy was taken over by...
Hi, Tracy,
I haven't seen you in a long long time. I'll call you and we can ger together.

HP5 is a great film and easy to use. Its a competitor to Tri-X, but a little bit more contrasty. I process HP5 in X-Tol at 50% according to Kodak specifications with consistent very good results. ...
My wife and I had a bugeye like that from 1971 through 1974. We lived in San Diego then. It was a perfect place for a bugeye. We sold the car in 1974 when we moved to Manhattan. I still miss it. ...
It's too bad that Cibachrome is gone. It had a look that I liked. What products and processes and labs are people using to try to come close to the Cibachrome look?
Cibachrome dyes were very...
Does anyone know of a lab that still does Cibachrome printing?

I had a Radioshack cordless telephone in my darkroom. It died. The nice thing about the Radioshack phone was that it didn't have any lights on it. I simply remained dark when it rang. Doeas...
There's no comparison between USC and UCLA.
The images are wonderful. What is a Naked Crown Graphic? I know what a Crown Graphic is. What are the clothes which a naked camera lacks?

I have a baby Speed Graphic that needs refreshing. Who is good at working on these?

This is the end of my short saga of the Beseler Unidrum. I found the drum and base for sale on Craigslist for $20.00. How big a mistake can you make for $20.00? The seller said the equipment was...
Thank you.

I have the opportunity to buy a Beseler 11x14 color Unidrum and a motorized (i think) stand. I'm thinking that this might be useful for developing 4x5 and 8x10 black and white film. Right now I'm...
I use x-tol for everything including corn flakes for breakfast. x-tol lasts a long time in bottles, is very sharp and has lots of contrast. It's very forgiving for slight variations in temperature....
Omega enlargers work fine if they are in good condition. They are fairly easy to find. Follow Craigslist and you will probably find one near you that you can inspect.

I really like the lamp.
I was given two Norman p2000d power packs and an 800. I'm trying to figure out which strobe heads will work with each power pack. I downloaded instructions for the power packs from the internet,...
photoworkssf doesn't do it's own processing. They send it out to Oscar's photo lab on Brannan Street in San Francisco.
