Hey Bob! Yeah, it's a great place. I could easily see myself living there. And the BBQ is to die for ...
Thanks for the suggestions!
I plan to get out of the city, so more small town architecture or Texas countryside. Planning to shoot the capitol, bats, missions in SA, and then head out of town.
I'll be there for a work trip in a few weeks and will have a few extra days. Other than trying out all the good BBQ (Franklin BBQ - worth flying to Austin for alone), anyone have suggestions for...
Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone!
I need some kind of a case for my Korona 12x20 camera (20" x 25" for the camera back) and 4 holders. Soft sided would be OK, provided it has some sort of padding built in. I've looked at baby...
Vaughn, what did you use to cut the darkslide?
I've used one in the past with great success, but don't have one that fits my current darkslides (Toyos).
Because all of the light is coming basically straight towards the darkslide, there really isn't any bleed over. Also, usually you cut the darkslide a bit large so that a gap is created between the 2...
I'm guessing 1 7/8" would be good for the opening?
Allows you to get 2 2"x5" images on one sheet of film.
Something like this: 100573
I'm about to make a split darkslide for 4x5. Anyone have advice on how to go about cutting / what size the split side should be, etc?
I already have the donor darkslide ready to go, and access to...
Thanks for the tip Jody! I see the difference now, and have ordered some infrared imagesetter film to play with.
The VR-100E is Konica Minolta made. Here's the datasheet - does it look similar to what you're using? http://image2output.com/media/pdf/hn_film.pdf
Thanks!
Very interesting Jody. Do you know the make of the K.M. film?
I see some on ebay right now for reasonable prices (VR-100E for $72 for 23.98" x 200', or $0.18 a shot (shipped!) on my 12x20).
I would like to explore some macro work, so I need higher magnifications. For higher magnification, you need more bellows.
I see what you mean. So, I have the ability to get a kit with a standard rail, an extension rail, 2 standards and the bellows. I could use 1 standard, the bellows and an extension rail from it. I...
So, if I had another identical kit (45GX and 2 rails) I could link them together? That's my plan then.
I think you're right - they are marked 1 - 24 but those might be centimeters. I'll measure it when I get home.
Thanks!
I can see needing 2 tripods to keep it stable.
Ok, so I have a Toyo 45gx with 2x 24" rails. The bellows are stretched to the max using both rails.
I assume since everything is so modular, that I could add a rail, bellows and front standard...
Answered my own question! You use the back side of the screw on cap as a screwdriver on the female side of the rail with the attached cap. This revolves a thread inside the rail, causing the...
OK, so I must be missing something here. I have a Toyo 45GX that came with 2x 24" rails. One has 2 female ends, the other has one female end and one capped end. I also have 2 screw on caps.
So...
Not sure about the problem, but I can highly recommend the RH Designs controller.
Where are you located? Someone local might have one they could lend for testing.
While I don't doubt you, I've never had this problem myself. I ordered 5 boxes of Acros from them in the last 4 weeks.
I don't want to get into a Windows vs. Mac debate - in fact, I think they have equivalent levels of crappiness. :) I can tell you that for my company, equally specced Macs cost about 35% more by the...
I'd stay Windows. We're testing out the new retina MacBooks at work and they are as buggy an prone to crashing as a PC. And they cost twice as much.
Do you mean why are they all so freaking expensive? :)
I've been ordering it from Adorama lately, for obvious reasons.
Welcome for Royal Oak, MI!
There are products for topping off bottles of wine. That should work, although I don't know how expensive it is.
I just had one made and it cost $35. And it's amazing quality work.
Hello from Royal Oak, MI!
Remember that it isn't really that much waste since all but the developer is reused anyway.
I had a real nice set for sale a few weeks ago, but it's sold now. You might look for a system like that though - holds 4-6 sheets and only used a liter of solution. Plus it's got a water bath to...
Maybe he doesn't want constant agitation for his negs?
I love racks and tanks - the perfect option for developing 4x5, and cheap and durable as well.
Here's a photo:

There are 5 compartments which will each hold 5-6 hangers. All of these fit inside at steel tank that has space for water. You can also insert the heater / probe to keep...
Depends a lot on the tank. The tank system I have can do 5-6 sheets in 1 liter of developer, and have a built in water jacket system for temp control.
Oh, and mine are for sale. :)
I assume that the diffusion box would remove any concern about bulb type and evenness of illumination on the baseboard?
Amen!
