Thanks all for the suggestions. Yes I contacted UPS first and they are doing an investigation. Unfortunately it benefits the shipper as they can take there time reporting the claim back to me....

  7. Re: Precision Imaging in Chicago reopens as Phoenix Imaging

I used CSW for a long time and they were mostly great. They themselves told me some time ago they were not adept at processing 8x10, so I went to Precision. Ran into a few issues along the way with...

My favorite was simple Tri X but did notice the Ilford and Efke. Never liked Ilford roll films much but things change ;)
What do you mean by interesting regarding the Efke?

  22. Re: Chamonix Users, Questions about bubble levels and front standard

The levels on the Ebony were pretty nice and helpful in most situations. At this point it's habit and I often am in pretty dim light so hard to trust the gridded lines.
  23. Chamonix Users, Questions about bubble levels and front standard

Yes I wrote Ebony and not so much for those reasons did they decline to sell this part but the fact that in order for the mirror and levels to work correctly the camera needs to be milled out.

    The Fresnel/Bright Screen question again...

  36. Re: Linhof Technika IV and Cam Confusion / Focus Issues

My Linhof recently did have a CLA from Precision Camera Works here in Chicago. Though not really sure Bob made adjustments to Beattie screen or shims.
I imagine Marflex is much more thorough?
  37. Re: Linhof Technika IV and Cam Confusion / Focus Issues

I have it installed as per Beattie's instructions:

Re: Most Rigid 8x10 Field Camera

Other than tape what could be done about 'pop'? Are some types of film more likely to behave that way? Certain holders? Or simply too long of an exposures with film that large?
