Well, after 35 years of LF shooting I'm done. Tried to place an ad here in the classifieds to share the darkroom and camera gear I'm finally getting rid of at a good price to whoever would...
If you can smell chemistry on your fingers you are inhaling it. The inhaled chemistry won't hurt your prints, but to a stickler the "sniff test" would be considered very poor form, nearly as bad as...
My set:
Nikkor-W 150/5.6 lens 640XXX
Nikkor-W 240/5.6 lens 778XXX
Nikkor-W 300/5.6 lens 780XXX
Nikkor-W 360/6.5 lens 200XXX
I shot arrangements of leaves and grass on 810 at 1:1 for years with a Nikkor W 240. Printed them at 20x24, a couple at 30x40 and one at 40x50” with wonderful results. Delta 100 in XTOL 1:1
LTI Lightside in NYC. I had been using Praus but the proofs from my 810 Portra 160 were all over the place. LTI makes a very nice actual contact print.
Well that Fiskars one did punch a hole, plus gouge emulsion pretty good. Flipped it over and gouged film base pretty good. There is a sharp metal tongue that really digs deep.
I have a mini fridge in the studio that is for film. Only a tiny freezer in it, and I only have some 35mm color neg film in that part as I seldom shoot it. I keep my film cool, and as my basement...
I think it comes from exhausted fixer. I have some as well, and they are stored in plastic sleeves. I suspect the binders I kept negatives in were partially to blame as well. I've not tried to save...
The minimal range of contrast was always my bugaboo with the Zone VI. I upgraded to an LPL machine for up to 4x5 and adapted a Kienzle head to the 810, never missed the ZVI "VC" head.
Sentimental...
I will also chime in with Delta 100, and would agree with Bruce that FP4+ is worth a look. I switched to FP4+ from Delta 100 as I found better shadow detail with it in my workflow in smaller formats,...
Many thanks Jon!

Almost through my stash of ADOX Variotone. I use Ilford MG Classic, Seagull VC and lately Bergger CB.
While I can't help I will be watching this thread. Seems like a very fun project.
And many successfully use long expired film. Not my cup of tea.
Of course it would cover for close up work, one can use a 135 Xenar if you get close enough. How you expect me to know anything first hand about a lens I have not used is beyond me. I’m talking about...

This is a pdf of the brochure I have here. Page 9 & 10 give image circle as 210mm. I suppose I will be called a fool by some for...
I read the specs from Nikon and it appeared to me that the 360/500/720 doesn’t cover 810 to the degree I would need it to. Plus I already have a 360 and 450. No interest here in adding to any...
Haven't used the 360/500/720 but have the 600/800 pair. I nearly only shoot 810 with them, and I do appreciate the reach. Quality is really quite excellent, right up there with the rest of the Nikon...
"It always turns out differently than imagined."
Oi.
Thirty years of black lines in the corner of my prints and I never heard of the tiny hole in ACROS. what a great idea. Just ordered a punch.
My films arrived today. Many thanks!
I have a converted Zone VI 810 in my space. Upright column, Keinzle VC head. Spacer so that the column is cleared when making larger prints. Love it. If I had space for a Keinzle floor standing I...
Another option would be to have the counter under the enlarger a few inches lower, so the top of the baseboard and the rest of the counter are all one level. Would gain another couple of inches of...
You should be able to get a 20x24 print off 4x5 with an LPL and a 135mm lens with that height, assuming you can find the older column. If you don’t mind the counter going a little lower than...

This outfit has TONS of sizes, I got one at the Littleton Staples to hold all the film holders for the Epson 700 scanner, an odd size. Staples only has a...
I’m in the basement as well, and have 90” to the ceiling, with exposed joists, so only 83 ½” where they are. I use an LPL of the older type with the slightly shorter column, and it sits with its...
My small window unit does leak light, if I needed it in my darkroom I would open up the front end and spray the interior of the vents with flat black spray paint.
I was recently told about an outfit called Scan Cafe that will scan up to 8x10 film, various options from a raw scan to a corrected jpg. Online reviews are all over the place, but all are for 35mm...
Thanks Jason. It was the color that made me pull over.
That AE image is lovely, I find that tracery of branches can be so hard to get on film.

Further stupidity for the near dead “community” area here.
I would love to have you able to scan 8x10 Mark. Just packing up that 35mm now, should be headed your way tomorrow.
Thank you. Been about 15 years since I shot color through the view camera, and then it was all in the studio. Having a blast with these. Another batch getting packed up for the lab today.

I set up a paper cutter with strips of gaff tape at the proper position, cut all the film in one direction, then box it up turn on the lights and set the gaff tape for the other cut. Not too hard,...
