Knight Optical make ANR glass in the UK, about 110 for a 5x7 piece(I asked them) So, about the same cost as Kami fluid, tape, pec pads. At least for me here in Switzerland. Not sure anyone has ever...
Really like this.
Ok, I just dry scanned on the fluid mount. Seemed to work fine. Didn't notice much of a difference between this and scanning directly on the glass, but I'm not much of a pixel peeper. Maybe the image...
What is it like if you dry scan on the fluid mount without additional glass? I've bought the fluid mount, but I am balking at the cost for Kami liquid and tape (for now). Is there really a...
Ah excellent. Thank you.
So, rather than start a new thread, does the 850 fluid mount cover a 5x7 negative? (For use on a v700). It's not clear from my reading so far.
Ha! Very true.
I had to delete a previous message due to an issue with my site, but here is my image:

I know it's not a traditional portrait as I have chosen...
Thank you the description. Dreams is a good topic. Sometimes I believe that dreams are communicated to us, and so not always random. But it is an interesting perspective, and certainly at times...
Interesting image. Are there any more images from the project? What is the project description?
Thanks - I'll check Neewer out. Some affordable C-Stands would be nice. I have a while yet anyway, as I haven't thought of a new picture yet.
Once again, thanks to everyone for being so helpful.
Yes, I wasn't even using sand bags, which was pretty stupid. Question, though, is it ok to be using sand bags on aluminium stands? For instance, would the weight rating of the stand go down?
...
Okay, so I took a portrait of my pregnant wife just using alluminium stands. I had two manfrotto 004's, which I used to hold an elinchrom Rx style 1200 and 300.
I wasn't happy using the lighter...
Thank you! It's been amazing with the wee one. So happy.
Okay, have another print from my (January) Entwined project, which I linked an image from earlier in this thread.
Hope you don't mind me giving some background to the image.:
I wanted the image...
Thank you. I miss Scotland, even though I live in Switzerland now.
Here's a Scottish themed one. My first Large Format shot outside so go easy on the criticism! :)
Foma 200
Messed around with tones in LR and PS, so apologies if this isn't really in keeping...
Thanks! I don't know how to make the initial picture bigger like everyone else is doing...
Hi,
I've been on here a lot looking for help, so thought I would post my first model posed photo (took a landscape a while back that I may also post).
My wife was pregnant, and I really wanted...
I've got maybe a tablespoon of hard crystals. The rest of the liquid seems clear. Any ideas as to whether I should use this? My problem is, I don't have a process yet, as I am just starting out,...
First time mixing Xtol, and I presume it is a bad batch, as I have hard flat crystal structures stuck to the bottom. There are not loads, though, so maybe this is okay? (I've bought some backup...
So, do you mean that Xtol always yielded thin negatives? Since reading these posts, I have been wondering about picking up some ID-11 instead. (Just getting back into Largeformat photography, so...
Found the Xtol thread. Looks like problem now fixed, but will depend on what batch I have...
Is this still a problem? Just bought myself some Xtol here in Switzerland. Don't know the batch date yet, as it is still in delivery.
I'm definitely thinking about picking something up cheaply. Its just my 3.5kg strobe making me nervous. Might just be better to drop 200 and get something I know will hold it.
Ah, great. Are you heating your water?
Thanks for your help on this.
Yes, I can see what you mean about the lip being bigger in the first link. I'll have a look about and see if I can see the one I would need.
I'm using 5x7 so should be ok I think, but will need to try it and see I guess.
Glad to hear people aren't using the base. Maybe I'll try the water bath too.
Do you mean I need an adapter?
Okay, your comment got me searching on the auction site. I've not been able to find anything recent, but I have found what looks like a much older stand. I think it looks like steel, so should be...
Yes, I've been checking the used auction site out here, and not much comes up. There were some broncolor senior stands, but I didn't think that the load capacity was enough.
Also, the Avenger you...
Thanks, everyone. So looks like can use a counterweight or sandbags on a normal light stand. What was confusing me was that I had seen a customer review saying that it wasn't possible to sandbag...
Ah, ignore me - I've just noticed that the cast iron weights are what you attach to the boom.
Do you weigh the stand down with sandbags? If so, how are you doing it?
I like the Avenger stands, but I think the one I was looking at is probably a bit out of my monetary range if I'm being honest, and they don't really come up used here (in Switzerland). I'm hoping...
That seems like a nice setup (the boom). (Also, liked the pictures of your studio earlier)
How do you attach the cast iron weights to the stands?
I'll definitely be employing sandbags, although I have heard that it can be harder to attach them to light stands (as opposed to C-Stands). Someone said elsewhere that I should be able to attach...
Thank you! I'll try to post on here once I'm up and running, although I'll only be shooting black and white due to costs.
As mentioned yesterday, here are those eyes that I use to keep up the negative. They seem to be fixed down solidly, and I have run about 20 prints through this Orbital so far.215705
