I'm pretty sure if you can walk around with (a lot of) liquor, on the street, anywhere you want anytime you want...you can find a way to make this work.

Interestingly, I didn't have a problem...
I've had wonderful results in Rollei Retro 100 in Rodinal. Similarly with Acros and Delta 100 although I've only shot a few rolls of those.
I shot TMX a lot more simply because it was more readily...
You could also try some Efke positive B&W paper. It's also high contrast but give Kodak's Selectol Soft paper developer a whirl...a good suggestion for either type of paper.
Cool work!
Frank gives the best advice, I'd say. I recently sold my Shen Hao wood field camera and it was not much different in weight than my Crown.
They're well made cameras, inexpensive and offer lots of...
Sounds like you need to build a camera around that lens, not the other way around.
Bob Carnie is a great person and very knowledgeable.
I can also recommend Lab Works in Winnipeg - they did some drum scans for a few of my 4x5 negs.
Interesting this came up now...
I bought some ERA paper on a trip to China last summer (RC type). It's about 10x12, and wow, is it thin. It actually curls, after drying, which is very weird to my...
No troubles getting it out here. There's plenty of retailers...sounds like maybe you should investigate a few.
Allow me to add my agreement to Bruce and Joanna - I learned the hard way that Yankee tanks just aren't good at properly developing 4x5 negs.
Unfortunately I learned that on negs from a trip to...
Gralab timer works well - I've used it for tray processing and if it faces away at a decent distance, there's no chance of fogging.
I also downloaded the Massive Dev. Chart app for my iPod Touch....
Folks
I'm endeavouring to set up my own website in the next 6 months.
I have a pretty well defined idea what it is I want it to be, and do -- a forum for my film/fine art images (B&W film,...
I can vouch for Ty Guillory (tystintypes) - I picked up a half plate camera from him and he was terrific to deal with.
My plans to explore this format were delayed, but...his workmanship is tops...
Consider Shen Hao, as well.
I got mine in Beijing, but they are available here and are well made cameras at a good price.

Terrific service from people dedicated to traditional.
Freestyle also has among the widest, if not THE widest, selection and do a lot of work online/mail order.
All great suggestions.
ThinkTANK makes good, well thought out bags for working photojournalists.

Hey Fred
I'd kinda like the option to scan for prints, hence the neg-scanner line o' thinking.
Thanks! Much appreciated...I realize flatbeds have come a long way, but there's nothing like an actual film scan IMO.
The XPan is such a great camera and such a sharp lens - be a shame to lose...
That'd be very generous of you, much appreciated. I've heard nothing but good things about Nikon scanners.
There are many scanners for regularly-sized 35mm film - Nikon, Polaroid, etc.
But I'm wondering if there are any suggestions for frames that are 24mm x 65mm (XPan), not just the regular dimensions...
I didn't shoot it for years simply because I didn't know it was still sold -- not a single thing in any camera store I ever went to that pointed to its existence. At some point, you have to think...

Eddie! Great shots!
To attach a lens to a board, do you simply unscrew the lens in half, assemble it over the board, and screw it back together?
So, I got myself into 8x10...figure, what the heck! I got 2 kidneys, and one of 'em will fetch a good price.
I received an old brass lens with this - not sure of make but it's a 12", flawless...
This is useful for me...I know these types of threads can be tedious, but for people in my situation -- new recipient of an old 8x10 wood camera having never used one before -- it's good to read.
If you're hybrid anyway, why not get a digital back for your 4x5?
Hilarious...

I only had problems with people selling me crap in more rural areas or in crowded markets. Simply smile - NEVER lose your cool - and say "bu yao" (pronounced Boo Yow) and you'll be fine.
I was...
I kept it in the overhead on the intercontinental portion - no problems there and I don't see why it would be. I kept it on my lap on an internal flight in China.
I had 2 Lowe-Pro slingshot 200AW bags to carry a field cam-sized Crown Graphic plus accessories, plus 2 35mm systems (F90x and a Widelux) AND film when I last travelled to China.
Easy to carry,...
Nice!
How did you get a board for it?
This was helpful to me, Bob, when I got my Widelux F7.

You can sell those flashes..?
I got 2 from recent sales, and will never use 'em. Even came with all wires, bulbs, etc.
Joyeux Noel, for the record...
I just bought a Crown Graphic with the flash attachment, complete with all wires, etc. (trivia note: the original 'light sabres' used in the Star Wars movies were the handles for these flashes)...
Not familiar with the cone - it's a D2 (older) enlarger, IIRC
Just picked up a Nikkor 135mm enlarging lens. The Omega I currently have at home has a Schneider 50mm on it, but since I do mostly MF, LF and panoramic printing it's not of much use.
Will the lens...
That's a terrific deal. Take it. Just do it.

I shot with a 4x5 Shen Hao there earlier this year -- it can be done, and wasn't as hard as I feared.
A Hassy is plenty portable, but I will say I've shot with a Crown overseas before and it is a...
