Bausch & Lomb EF Anistigmat 3" f2 question

Took in 3- 5x7 lenses for CLA at my local (hour away) repair guy awhile back, he gave me a tote with 5 or 6 odd/old lenses, elements and shutters that I was digging around in today.
One lens is a B&L EF Anistigmat 3" f2; I believe it's a movie lens that someone has mounted it in a shutter.
Figured it might cover 4x5 so I dug around the Googles, found one, seems to be selling for 2000 Euros... any idea why? Is it all about the f2 or is this someone's wishful thinking?

It's all about the bokeh.
That's probably from an old folder, and most likely won't cover 4x5...but...adapted to a 4/3 digital camera, it might be swirly hipster manna from heaven.

Asking prices aren't always obtained.

Some, not all, relatively fast old lenses are cult objects.

Why not try it out?
Make a lens board out of some mat board/ cardboard, mount up the shutter, and test a few sheets.

Not a large format lens, won't come close to covering 4x5. Perhaps for a circular image ...

I am going test it out to see what it looks like but it won't be a keeper; I've bumped up from 4x5 to 5x7 and I'm not looking back...

I tend to not get rid of stuff unless the thing I had for many years goes supernova on the Internet and I need some $$$... But the things I have saved have come around to me needing it much later, and I was pleased I had it... Things like cheap barrel lenses I had to find when a Graflex Super D RB came into my life, or old Petzval projection lenses that could be mounted on a 35mm or DSLR were a gift for the future for me when I wanted to try something new and compact to get away from my anchor gear...

Your needs might change, but never say never... ;-)

That object that came around in the future right now is a Nicola Perscheid 36cm that is kindling Pictorialist sensibilities in my brain... where at 61 yrs there's only room for so much...

Don't believe that. Keep learning and you will still be inquisitive at 91 as I am.
