    5.5 x 14 inch black glass ambrotype

This scan makes the plate look terrible. As far as development and exposure goes, this is one of the best plates I've done. It is so bright. The light was changing so I had to develop by eye and I got it bang on.

That is a spectacular ambrotype, Alex! I'm envious. Well done.

Plate looks great. How are you scanning your plates? Getting a lot of green on my monitor.

Shot my first 8x10s outdoors over the weekend. Due to coastal fog there weren't as many vista shots to get as I was hoping for. Found a nice tree and bench nearby but alone it was kind of boring. Then I saw a couple and asked them to pose for me in exchange for a free scan of the plate.

    Seneca Improved View 8x10
    Kodak 8.5" Commercial Ektar f/6.3
    New Guy collodion (60/40 2-month-old/fresh)
    Iron/copper/potassium developer
    Tintype on black aluminum
    f/6.3, 6 seconds
