Besler 45 V-XL non functioning elevation lock

I recently purchased a Besler 45VXL and noticed that the elevation lock in not working. Anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions on repairing it?

pictures would help. I have a 45-vxl but haven't had trouble with the elevation lock. I rarely lock it anyway, it generally stays put (motorized elevation with counterweighting, I recall).

The motor was an option for these. My lock keeps it in place, but unlocks with any intentional movement of the elevation control. I like this enlarger, but find most of the controls to be a bit flaky. Luckily the focus knob itself works well. Mine was heavily used and abused at a local lab. I remember a while back on apug someone rebuilt theirs and said everything worked well. I've just learned to deal with the quirks.

I have the 45MXT which has motorized elevation. There is no lock and it has never slipped.

Mine has no motorL. I am using a Heiland cold light source so no need for counter weight. I didn't include a picture because there really isn't anything to to take a picture of. It's a knob you turn on the left side of the column. Tightening must occur internally. Yes, the unit is reasonabley steady and I can get away without it tightening but I have bumped it a few times and it has moved, so I would like to lock it down but it's not an obvious fix or at least for me.

They also may have parts.

Mine locks with a small lever.

One does need to adjust the weight depending on head weight. Many ways to do that.

The big spring is fairly powerful.

Now even more glad I switched from Omega to Beseler right after I started in 2011.
