The other thing to try is getting some old 19th century WA with a Waterhouse stop, and focusing with the open aperture, but inserting a pinhole in one of the openings...

Pinhole + lens has a very different look than either used alone...

And you won't need a shutter...

I got a 120mm "Wollason Meniscus lens" from Reinhold Schable in Washington. I'll send photos soon. It's a very simple clean setup. I need to mount on a Cambo board and experiment.
