Sorry I was not clear but I am trying to remove the center tube that protrudes below.

A facebook friend sent this that looks to be a screw thread... of course as Bob mentioned there is no certainty mine is the same...

It can be a very tight fit even if you loosen this, with possible corrosion or somebody glued it in.

I bought a new 3/8" version of the above from B&H some time ago. I have an older 1/4"

The Heavy duty was made in the 50's with wood legs also as i have one. I believe it was spec for movie cameras

I have Linhof catalogs somewhere, my library is not in order

They currently make both versions, aluminum and wood legl

Nice that the double-wide heads can fit directly into the 90mm hole instead of requiring the cap...

Anyone know, did other companies also make 90mm tripod heads or was it just a Linhof thing?

I made my own 90 mm adapter for a Majestic head from off the shelf parts

It is documented at least twice somewhere here

A Majestic head is better than most Linhof heads

The combo is very heavy duty

All 3 of mine with that feature unscrew easily as they should, for various configurations

Once removed it is a delicate bit, I store them carefully

I remember that. I will need to do something similar for a very heavy camera with its own odd mount and a spotting scope...

Looks like a very good bearing, perhaps for telescopes

    Bob may know

The military also used that tripod, for something
