The rear cell is, in fact, the yellow filter. It is basically a meniscus lens.
The "yellow" filters I have seen are more beige these days rather than yellow. I have also seen some that have a granular appearance. I doubt that few 100 year old yellow filters are still in their original condition!

I typically don't mention sales of Imagon lenses but making an exception for the one below as I've never seen this one.

    Mount is M39 for Leica

Images were up for a few hours and listing ended. Never seen an Imagon with 7.5 cm focal length before. Just listing the images here for perma-link.

The shortest modern Imagons were the 120 and the 150mm. Rodenstock had discontinued them sometime in the 60s.

Then a German portrait studio photographer, Burghard Schmactenburg contracted with Rodenstock somewhere between the late 70s and mid 80s to manufacture the 120 and 150mm Imagons on an exclusive basis for him and he then had manufactured lens mounting tubes, focusing mounts and a version of the Prontor Professional 0 shutter to his own specs. These lenses were then offered with or without shutter for 35mm and mf cameras. He made a special version of the shutter specifically for the Rollei 6000 and Hasselblad 500 series cameras. The 35mm system used T-2 adapters for various camera systems.

Starting about 1988 we became the US distributor of his Imagon series replacing the previous distributor, Frank Cricchio, a well know studio photographer from Texas. Thus we sold the 120 through the 300mm Imagons until they were all discontinued. We also sold the Imagon focusing mounts and adapters made for the 200 and 250mm by Zork.

The 120 and 150 were discontinued well before the longer ones as Schmactenburg went out of business.

Oscar SImon "Kronarette". F.4.5 250mm. Mounted with central curtain shutter (German/not working).
European web auction 294 usd. Intact yellow rear filter.

This is, actually, a sensible mounting system. The lens section is in the front, whilst the rear section, contaning the yellow filter, doesn't have to be at a precise distance from the front section. Thus the sections can be moved to a different curtain shutter, without "adjustment"!

Of course our ancestor's figured out a good shutter solution.

    Makes me think!

Reading the old 2009 thread, it looks as Emil got hold of exactly the same combination - rather than the "studio shutter" he mentioned.

He has been more than satisfied with this purchase!
