Just a random thought I live in Midwestern USA. In the entrance of the Medical offices I visit there are bags to hold umbrellas. Those are free. I did not think about it until I read this thread but the next time I go in and help support the doctors' kids in college or buy them a new car I might take three of them.

I've used Gitzos since ~1980 and still have my original (second hand) Reporter which was the first I bought. Never had a problem with them and they've seen sea, rain, rivers, snow; the lot. Like with many things, there are always solutions looking for problems to solve. Personally I tend to find that well-made, basic, simple, no-frills equipment with no added gizmos is the most effective and longest lasting.

Just grab a few each time you enter the building for beach marshes, messy bogs, etc.
While some situation might call for sleeves like these, but heavier plastic or vinyl, or working with am art dieector or fashion models would serve just as well with a spare set or two.
A plywood board or piece of lumber plank can be set up as a simple plastic cutter, wire or sealer, with copper flat rod or flat.
A phone charger can be a simple power supply and the heating bar can also be wood to.
Never used ‘em but maybe it explains why I started out with two tripods and now have four or five.
They do tend to breed like rabbits.
