I have managed to adapt extremely easylly a 4x5 film pack holder for my Speed Graphic. I've just made a cheap "filler" with a couple of layers of black foamcore. It blocks the light that should enter as the film pack is not present, and locks the film sheet or dry plate in place.

Flowers Back Porch J Lane Dry Plate Multigrade dev by Nokton48, on Flickr

9x9cm image burned onto a 9x12cm J Lane Dry Plate, loaded into a 9x12cm RADA Normalfaltz Single Plate Holder. Exposed in Plaubel Makiflex Automatic with a lens purchased from an Antique shop in the UK. An 8 inch F4 (?) approx brass projection lens of the Petzval variety. 1/4 sec exposure at wide open F4 (?) approx EI of 1, lightest cloud veiling direct key sun. Almost key light. No fill. Glass neg processed in Ilford Multigrade paper dev 10 mins at 20C.

I also shot frames with modern film, Efke PL100 and FOMA 100. Will be interesting to see the differences.

It does have a period look to it.........

Jason Lane Dry Plate ISO 2, 9x12cm size, Meyer Trioplan 4.5/135mm
Exposure time 8 minutes, developed in ADOX FX-39 II
The trioplan seams to be a very good lens for the dry plates, the three single elements of the lens let pass blue and UV light.

I just have to ask, since I am curious: why do you think a more modern lens wouldn't let UV and blue light pass through to the dry plate?

Modern lenses blocking UV light <400mn but films having a sensivity down to 320nm.
The dry plates are having a normal sensitivity which means to blue and UV light down to ~320nm with the max. at 400nm and stops at 475nm.

It has a good reason that the modern lenses block UV lights because it makes your picture unsharp, lenses are not corrected for this spectrum and it does´nt focus in the point of the visible light.

When you use a film with a normal sensitivity only, you lost around the half of the light intensity and the picture has a different look.
To use this film emulsions in the full range of its sensitivity a lens with no cemented elements are a good choice, thin glass elements are positive as well.

Perfect are lenses made of quarz but this ones are incredible expensive.

Here´s a sample I made with an extreme rare Astro Berlin Quarz lens 2.1/120mm and the Jason Lane Dry Plate. I used only UV light for the illumination with low intensity. It shows a tiny customer made camera with a 20mm Heliar lens, have a look to the match below the camera!
