    Re: Large Format Landscapes

This is my first contribution to this thread which has been a great source of inspiration for a while now. For those who are unfamiliar with the scene this is Durdle Door, located on the Jurassic Coast on the south coast of England. One of my first large format landscapes.

So i'm here looking for all comment and critique on all aspects of photography, technical and aesthetic. It all helps.

    Welcome to the forum!
    Nice image, great scenery.
I would like it from the waterfront more to show the majesty of the rocks, what do you think?
    And to exclude the people...

    Thank you for the welcome!

It's a place i like to visit from time to time so i'll definitely be photographing it again. I think next time i might go down to the beach and use a wider lens to get a sense of the cliffs curving around the bay.

I'm fifty fifty on the people. I've got another photo taken from the same spot later on without people but by that point the shadow of the cliff i was stood on had fallen across the beach so i wasn't so happy with that one. I thought about cloning them out but in the end went with a let it be approach.

But i agree, next time from the beach i think.

Not a regular here, that is sure. Last time I posted must be when Jim still let us see those Alberta vistas. Miss them. I hope to be able to make worthwhile contributions in future.

Made myself a 4x5 or should I say 5x4, being on the right (as opposed to left) side of the pond, pinhole camera. This is the very first capture, 10s metered, 30s exposure. Shanghai 100, R09 1:50.

The hope around here is that Jim Kitchen is wandering the wide Alberta plains, and will return one day w/ more of those dramatic, Big Sky shots to share. It will be a happy homecoming.

FWIW, I agree that it would be better without the people. They distract from the subject of the photograph.

Overall, I like it a lot. Nice composition.
