We refunded the money they paid. So did any other Linhof distributors. In the USA 5 were sold and one person did not return her module.
Since it had to be programmed on a Linhof unique computer program it is totally useless as the computer and program were trashed years ago.

If only 5 EMS units were sold in the States, there should not be more than 30 units sold worldwide with the most generous guess. It is intersting to know what collector would pay for her could be only surviving unit. I know it does not work, but like those error stamp, we never know if she made a good investment decision. LOL

Humm. Where is the serial number on a Tech III? I don't have cams. The number on the bed is 5413. Is that the serial number? Something I found online puts that as the first version of 1946 before the second version of 1950.

That is the serial number. 1955/56. The 46 version was a 2xxx number.

Curioser and curioser. The same link said the 55 design had an reinforced angular rather than flat front door, and focusing knobs on both sides. Mine definitely has a focus knob only on one side.

Is this guy just wrong about everything?

Here's the bed with the serial number and single focus wheel.

Most of what he wrote is accurate. He left out the entire Medzin series made durin WWII which is what the III evolved from and the 3000 is the latest version and has been for a few years.
A III is just that, a III. Linhof doesn't break them down into sub versions in the serial Buber listings, they are all just IIIs. Just like the Master Technika Classic is virtual the same camer today as it was in 1972 but over that time knobs have changed, the position of the knobs have changed, the cable release body mount has disappeared. The back removal system has changed and the, decades later. Changed back.. But the camera is still a Master Technika and has had the same serial number since it was introduced.
That is where your confusion comes in. You have a III the subdivisions of the III are from users definitions not from the factory designations. To the factory or us you have an older one or a newer one but they are all III models and those camera did keep evolving until the evolved so far that they became a new model, the IV.

If you want the factory history of most Linhof cameras then look for the 2nd edition of the Linhof camera storyg book that is published by Linhof and co authored by the owner Peter Baurenschmid.
