Question on the Technika III 4x5 production. I have seen it said in several places that production of the III stopped in 1957. but I have also heard that the NON-Super version with NO-RF was made until 1960 with camera 16,064 being the last one.

Oh wow those black 45 Technika IV's are great! Thanks for sharing them.

inversed your IV - 62660 looks just like the paint on the late model IIIs. Since Bob is giving such an early date of "Oct 56" (first shown at 1956 Photokina- 9/29-10/7) it would appear yours represents the earliest cameras without even the red stripes on the standard!

I did a full tear down of the camera to re-lubricate and fix a couple of ageing parts. While changing the bellow i noticed there was no retaining plates on the rear standard. The bellow was just glued on. Under the factory glue i found a couple of holes for the upper and lower plates, however they were never threaded. I'm 100% confident this camera came out of the factory with just glue on the rear standard size of the bellow.

Also, beware, Linhof Germany do not have any parts for the early IV's, I had to rebuild the plastic swing lever with epoxy as it was totally stripped.

Now i have basically a brand new 1956 Technika with a nice patina on the leatherette. Wonderful cameras to work on.

I have 19116 and it is a wartime Technika from 1940-1945. Some of the later ones in this series 19xxx were made for the military and have a rough painted finish rather than the leather wrapping.



Don't know why it came out sideways here...
