Is Kodak still making large format film?

Did a couple of searches on web and on forum, and nothing popped up. Is Kodak still making Tri-X 320 film? I see it is for sale by suppliers, but is it still being produced?

probably but I wouldn't believe anything you read on their website. "we believe in film" "commitment to film", then a week later another product gone only a month after the price has gone up $40/box.

But are they still making the film or relying on existing stock?

In late 2011 I purchased a large order of 4x5 Portra 160 after I started to hear about the impending bankruptcy. The emulsion code was 4031 11 and the expiration date was 8/2013. The other day I bought a few boxes at Midwest Photo and the emulsion code was 4031 13 but the expiration date was the same, 8/2013.

I was planning on buying another large batch, and I may, but I was hoping to get a later expiration date and it appears that all the Portra 160 out there is dated the same. Was it all made at the same time?

I can't tell you for sure but the quantities of sheet portra film kodak is probably selling compared to the capacity of their machines just doesn't make sense for them to run it all the time. They probably do batches at this point.

They seem to be making routine runs of Portra (160 & 400), Ektar, and TMax (100 & 400).
The demand for Tri-X might be more intermittent. Only chrome film is gone.

Thing is, I want to make another bulk purchase (100 boxes or so) but I'd prefer to get a later expiration date. So far the film I bought in 2011 and last week have the same date.

Has anyone seen any Portra 160 with a date later than 8/2013? If they're making routine runs I'd think the expiration dates would change too, no?

Call Jim at Midwest. I'm sure he can tell you what the exp. date is on the Porta they have in stock.

I have some dated 08/2014 that I got from B&H. Also have some Ektar dated 11/2014. So, it looks like they're still making runs. You might also check with Badger Graphic.
