Canon Pixma Pro 1 anyone made a B&W only hack?

The title says it all. I have a Canon Pixma Pro 1. Great printer, but I only want to print B&W. The printer demands all 12 inks be full and installed. It would save a lot of money to be able to use only the 5 B&W inks. Any ideas?

Canon even sells a 5 pack of B&W only inks!

    but...

I don't know anything about your specific printer, but if you really only wish to print in B/W, you can just reset your empty colour ink cartridges. That way the printer will "think" that they're still full and wont spawn error messages.
You can see how to reset the ink here LINK

    I hope that was helpfull

    Thanks DavyG!

I will try that. I am going to hack this thing somehow, or destroy it. It eats ink just sitting there. I do use a Lazer B&W for text and it is cheap and long lasting. I got tired of Epson 'PHOTO' printers always messing up and thought I would try this Canon. The B&W prints must be seen. They are wonderful.

    Thanks again!

I have not hacked it yet, but I am having good luck with generic inks that cost 40% less. Keeping 12 inks full is expensive for a retired hobbyist.
