    New Website

    Hi all,

Just completed the redesign of my website using Adobe's latest web program called "Muse." Only two galleries so far, but more will be added in the near future.

    Thanks for taking a look.

I'm got plenty of critiques proving once again that is takes only one photographer to change a lightbulb, and 3587 photographers who will say they can do it better. Grin.

Just want those who are interested in see what I put together. It's not perfect, but what is? The design is intended for the iPad/tablet platform so pictures remain small, and the thumbnails are just part of the navigation. Not intended to show much detail. No Flash used for the animation.

Art buyers, art directors, photo editors want to get in, see and get out with minimum hassel, and an invisible interface. They also don't read, so no need for captions.

This is only the start. Planning on adding more galleries soon to illustrate specific projects.

Thanks Kirk. Amazing that over time, with enough attempts, all the stars come into alignment for a photograph.

    So that's a No?

I'll make a suggestion then, take a look at the site on an iPhone.

I'm reading this thread on my android phone, but i wanted to see your site on my desktop P.C (with firefox 16.0.2)
Too lazy to re-write the url, i just googled your name.

Good news is that your page : www.walterpcalahan.com comes up first.

Bad news is that it gives an error message.

You should fix that. Art directors don't have time to click your links, they just google your name.

Thanks for the "Google" error note. I'll have to submit the site name to Google for a refresh. Their robots haven't found the changes from my old site yet.

Next I'll need to buy an iPhone since I don't own one. A friend sent an e-mail to me saying it looked good on iOS, but I have no knowledge if it does. Adobe Muse doesn't offer a simulated iPhone/Android preview yet.

The site was designed with the iPad screen size in mind.

You don't have to wait for anything. Put an index page in that redirects to your 'photography' page. Your server is returning the error, not Google.

Or just copy the 'photography' site to your main directory. It really doesn't look like a google issue, it's in your website architecture, there is no index page at your domain and gives a 403 forbidden error. That's for you or your webmaster to fix. That's the error one would receive when one is directory browsing a directory without an index(you should have an index page in every directory btw), and the server is set for directory browsing not allowed.

Regarding iPhone, the site navigation is completely hosed using Safari and Mercury. Using CloudBrowse the site seems to work as intended. You may want to test the site using PC or Mac Safari.

    Re: New Website

It looks good on an iPad but there's no thumbnails or anyway to control what image is shown. This means I'm stuck viewing the pictures at the programmed pace and sequence. That bugs me (and many others).
